This role blends technical expertise in charitable planning with a deep understanding of the emotional, social, and legacy-driven dimensions of wealth. The advisor will help clients move from transactional giving to transformational impact-aligning their values with their vision for change.</p> <p>This is a leadership-track role with the opportunity to shape and scale BMO's philanthropic offering across client segments, including mass affluent and emerging wealth tiers.</p> <p>Key Accountabilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Client Engagement & Strategy</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as the primary philanthropic advisor to clients, guiding them through values-based discovery and strategic giving plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Advises on charitable vehicles (e.g., donor-advised funds, private foundations, charitable trusts) and their tax implications.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitates family conversations around legacy, purpose, and intergenerational wealth transfer.</p> </li><li> <p>Thought Leadership & Education</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as a subject matter expert on the meaning of wealth, the role of philanthropy in society, and the evolving landscape of impact giving.</p> </li><li> <p>Represents BMO at industry events, client forums, and internal trainings to elevate philanthropic literacy across the organization.</p> </li><li> <p>Platform Development & Growth</p> </li><li> <p>Identifies scalable ways to deliver philanthropic guidance to broader client segments, including mass affluent households.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with internal partners (Wealth Planners, Relationship Managers, Investment Advisors) to integrate philanthropy into holistic planning.</p> </li><li> <p>Contributes to the development of tools, content, and processes that enhance the client experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Team Leadership & Mentorship</p> </li><li> <p>Helps build and mentor a team of philanthropic professionals as the platform grows.</p> </li><li> <p>Fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and client-centricity.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>10+ years of experience advising HNW/UHNW clients on philanthropy, estate planning, or related disciplines. </li><li>Deep knowledge of charitable planning strategies, tax law, and philanthropic structures. </li><li>Strong facilitation skills and emotional intelligence; able to navigate complex family dynamics with discretion and empathy. </li><li>Proven ability to translate values into actionable giving strategies that create measurable impact. </li><li>Experience working across wealth tiers and designing scalable service models is a plus. </li><li>Designations such as Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) or Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) preferred. </li><li>Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in law, finance, or nonprofit management a plus. </li></ul> <p>Salary:</p> <p>$102,000.00 - $190,000.00</p> <p>Pay Type:</p> <p>Salaried</p> <p>The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type.</p> <p>Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
