<p>Are you passionate about the environment and want to make a difference?</p> <p>DEQ has an open opportunity for an Environmental Program Consultant.</p> <p> </p> <p>This position is located at: Green Square Complex - 217 W. Jones St. Raleigh, NC 27603</p> <ul> <li> This position is full-time (40 hours per week) with State Benefits * </li></ul> <p>These positions currently qualify for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The </p> <p>NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in </p> <p>hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.</p> <p>The position plays a lead role in providing pollution prevention technical assistance to businesses, industries, and institutions across the state. In addition, the position has duties of program development, management, and planning to provide strategic oversight of technical project delivery, including clean energy assessments, water efficiency audits, solid waste reduction, pollution prevention, compliance assistance, and other environmental performance improvement recommendations. The position coordinates closely with DEACS's Recycling and Materials Management and Environmental Assistance Sections, other key DEQ programs, and others partner organizations to deliver services and assistance in line and in support of agency program objectives. Working closely with the other section chiefs and Division leadership, this position will also play a lead role in support of the division's internal and external technical assistance training development. </p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Oversee program development and management including strategic planning and implementation; program performance management and tracking; assessment follow-up activities and client evaluations; and managing workflow processes and procedures.?</p> </li><li> <p>Provide multimedia pollution prevention technical assistance to businesses, industries, and institutions across the state, with a special concentration on energy assessments and climate pollution reduction strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyzes key programmatic metrics and data to inform strategic planning for agency, development of reports, fact sheets, and other technical resources to be utilized by staff and to assist clients.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate program activity through regular meetings, written policy, and program direction. </p> </li><li> <p>Support Department efforts on climate mitigation, clean energy planning, EO-80, and other initiatives as needed. </p> </li><li> <p>Manage the production and publication of the DEACS Biennial Report that highlights Division-wide initiatives and accomplishments for a two-year cycle. The Biennial Report is a highly designed print and digital publication that requires a cross-section collaboration and adherence to project management schedule.</p> </li><li> <p>With support from the Section staff, the position will support the marketing and outreach efforts of the program including web presence, outreach presentations, social media releases, conferences attendance, and annual Section program performance tracking.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead and foster opportunities for joint efforts to build internal and external technical training across Division units and sections, including ESI program support, Recycling and Materials Management Section support, and other joint projects as determined by DEACS leadership team.</p> </li><li> <p>Makes presentations to a variety of internal and external stakeholders on program strategies, initiatives, and other performance metrics.</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to division planning and initiatives including report and technical resource development and process improvement efforts.</p> </li></ul> <p>The Division of Environmental Assistance and Customer Service:</p> <p>The mission of the Division of Environmental Assistance and Customer Service (DEACS) is to protect and improve North Carolina's environment and economy through customer-focused assistance, greater understanding of environmental permitting and compliance, wider adoption of sustainable practices, increased recycling and reduced waste disposal and reduced impacts from resource consumption.
