<p>POSITION STATUS</p> <ul> <li>Part-time hourly employee </li><li>14-18 hours per week, per season schedule </li><li>$23.00+/ hour DOE </li><li>USA Swimming Coaching Membership/ Certification </li><li>JCC individual membership and staff discount offerings included </li><li>Start date: TBD </li></ul> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Under the direction of the Aquatics Manager and the Chief Operating Officer, the Head Swim Team Coach plans, develops, organizes, implements and coaches programs and services leading the JCC Jellyfish and Junior Jellies Swim Team. General responsibilities for a Head Swim Team Coach position may include any or all of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Creating and growing upon the vision for the JCC Swim Team with the Chief Operating Officer, ensuring that each participant, parent, guest and visitor leaves the J feeling joy, satisfaction, cohesion and excitement for their next visit individually and as a Team. </li><li>Creating and implementing developmental swim team programming and coaching for youth and juniors with a structure including periodization short and long-term, mentoring assistant coach(es), team building and fun-raising activities, healthy competition and community-centered collaborations, while modeling department and facility vision with staff and members. </li><li>Maintaining a high level of communication with Chief Operating Officer, Aquatics staff, assistant coaching team, participants, parents, and community activity/ meet officials while scheduling and administering daily practices, planning events (social and competitive), planning program capacities and supervision of all associated with the JCC Swim Team. </li><li>Supporting the administration needs for Swim Team management with COO, Aquatics Manager, and all associated JCC departments including: Aquatics, Facilities, Marketing, Membership, Accounting and Desk Staff. </li><li>Supporting the management of JCC Swim Team employee and independent contractor human resources & accounting processes including but not limited to: on-boarding, staff files, contracts, payroll, tax documents, contact lists, meetings and communications, training and more. </li><li>Supporting the management of JCC Swim Team accounting, marketing and program implementation systems including but not limited to: Daxko, Mind-Body Online, Zoom, Social Media (Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, etc...) and more </li><li>Supporting the collaboration with other departments for optimal member experience and execution of facility policies, procedures, space use, and cleanliness standards. Coordinating with Membership, Desks and Maintenance Teams, Early Childhood Programs, Youth and Teen Programs, Summer Camps, and more for Swim Team program marketing, management and implementation. </li><li>Supporting annual budget process specific to Swim Team based on historical data and program planning processes. </li><li>Supporting the growth of the department to where this position may morph and change as leadership sees fit, making this position opportune for growth. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Five+ years of similar experience as a Head Swim Coach preferred </li><li>Proficiency coaching across youth and junior age groups 5-18 years, individually and in groups. </li><li>Successful completion of a child abuse registry, criminal record check and Safe Sport through USA Swimming. </li><li>Completion of nationally accredited USA Swimming Coach certification in good standing; knowledge of rules, regulations and guidelines of USA and Utah Swimming </li><li>Valid CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED, Lifeguard, or Safety for Swim Coaches certification. </li><li>Completion of an undergraduate degree with specialization in the human performance sciences, preferred but not required </li><li>Knowledge of Swim Tek swimming software and timing systems preferred but not required. </li><li>Proficiency in the use of computers and internet-based payroll process </li></ul> <p>GENERAL ATTRIBUTES</p> <ul> <li>Strong customer service orientation </li><li>Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills </li><li>Strong organization and administration skills </li><li>Strong team player, collaborator attitude </li><li>Strong modeling of health and wellness practices for participants and staff </li><li>Inclusive language and sensitivity to the needs of the Center's diverse clientele. </li><li>Ability to design, develop and deliver a "best of class" Swim Team developmental and competitive environment </li><li>Ability to effectively promote and cross-market the Center's programs and services </li></ul> <p>PROFESSIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Sees this work as a "Professional Position" </li><li>Works with COO and Aquatics Manager to provide personal and social development for lifetime skills by developing and improving the technical and physical skills of swimming through practices and healthy competition. </li><li>Creates supportive and welcoming environments for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. </li><li>Communicates clearly and professionally with participants, parents, guests and co-workers to ensure smooth function of the Program. </li><li>Encourages healthy competition through encouragement and motivation. </li><li>Develops and leads Team zoom sessions and dry-land training where appropriate. </li><li>Prepares swim meet information and entries/registrations, and manages results </li><li>Collaborates with Utah and USA Swimming to maintain Coach and Center "in-good-standing" sanctioning status for all practices and meets as applicable. </li><li>Supports the management of USA/ Utah Swimming Club Portals and Swim Team volunteer "Board" where applicable. </li><li>Supports parents and participants with the USA/ Utah Swimming sanctioning and "in-good-standing" guidelines and processes for athletes </li><li>Ensures safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules as well as understanding and implementing emergency action plans in accordance with JCC policies & procedures. </li><li>Identifies and reports all equipment concerns to the Aquatics Manager </li><li>Refers participants to the programs and services available at the Center that will assist them in meeting their needs. </li></ul> <p>EXPECTATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Embraces JCC mission and vision </li><li>Follows JCC policies & procedures </li><li>Maintains the highest level of personal conduct, and representation of the Wagner JCC </li><li>Follows facility guidelines for Covid-19 mandates, or other as applicable </li></ul> <p>Implements proper sanitation and cleaning duties of all equipment, props and areas used</p>
