<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Title: Human Resources Generalist</p> <p>Unit: Non-Unit</p> <p>Department: Human Resources</p> <p>Reports To: Director of Human Resources</p> <p>Date: March 2026</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The HR Generalist plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive human resources support across the organization. Serving as a trusted partner to employees and managers, this position is responsible for full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, policy administration, performance management, and compliance with applicable employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, and institutional policies.</p> <p>The ideal candidate is a proactive HR professional with strong judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to navigate complex employee matters with discretion and consistency.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Support employee relations activities, including investigations, coaching, mediation, and conflict resolution, in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources. </li><li>Serve as a resource to managers and employees on collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), HR policies, procedures, and best practices. </li><li>Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes to ensure a positive and compliant employee experience. </li><li>Administer HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent, equitable, and legally compliant application. </li><li>Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity within the HRIS. </li><li>Support performance management processes, including goal setting, evaluations, corrective action, and disciplinary processes. </li><li>Assist with compliance initiatives related to federal, state, and local employment laws. </li><li>Participate in HR projects, training initiatives, and organizational development efforts. </li><li>Perform other HR-related duties as assigned to support departmental and institutional goals. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field </li><li>Three to five years of progressive human resources experience </li><li>Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices </li><li>Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality </li><li>Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to manage sensitive and complex employee matters professionally and effectively </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) </li><li>Experience working in a unionized environment </li><li>Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or public-sector settings </li><li>Experience with HRIS systems and coordination with payroll and benefits functions </li></ul> <p>Core Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Employee relations and conflict resolution </li><li>Policy interpretation and consistent application </li><li>Professional judgment and ethical decision-making </li><li>Collaboration and stakeholder engagement </li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Location: Roxbury Community College, 1234 Columbus Ave, Boston, MA 02120</p> <p>Unit Status: Non-Unit</p> <p>Hours: 37.5 hours per week</p> <p>Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000</p> <p>Expected Start Date: March 2026</p> <p>Application Deadline: Until filled</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>All applicants must apply online by submitting:</p> <ul> <li>Cover Letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>(3) Professional References </li></ul> <p>Successful applicants will be required to complete a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI/SORI) request.</p> <p>After completing all the steps above, please go back into the newly created account and double check that your resume and cover letter uploaded as you intended.</p> <p>Roxbury Community College understands that persons with specific disabilities may need assistance with the job application process and/or with the interview process.
