Job applications for current students will not be considered if submitted through the external career center.</p> <p>Position Details</p> <p>The Center for Teaching and Learning at The University of Tampa is looking for a Coordinator of First-Year Community Engagement. This First-Year Studies (FYS) Instructional Staff position reports to the Senior Director of First-Year Studies. The FYS Program is designed to help students transition to college and make the best academic, co-curricular, and social choices while acquiring the skills needed to excel in their chosen area of interest. FYS achieves this goal through a required full year-long first-year-studies course designed to help students (a) build a connection with each other, faculty, and peer mentors; (b) connect with the on-campus community; and (c) connect with the surrounding Tampa community. All students entering UTampa take a first-year studies course as part of their Spartan Studies (general education) requirements.</p> <p>FYS helps students build connections with their faculty, fellow students, and the campus and local communities through out-of-classroom experiences that fulfill the Spartan Ready Competencies. Effective out-of-classroom experiences (OCEs) are a successful way to facilitate all three parts of this goal. The Coordinator of First-Year Community Engagement is a dynamic individual who can build community connections and manage the logistics for OCEs for the faculty and staff members teaching in the program. In addition, this individual will teach four sections of the one-credit FYS course (two-semester sequence) and will provide additional support to specific student populations that span across sections.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Program/Event Planning, Coordination, and Facilitation for the First-Year Studies Out-of-Classroom initiative, including but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Develop large-scale cohort and small-scale course-specific OCE opportunities that fulfill the Spartan Ready Competencies. </li><li>Develop experiential learning opportunities that meet the needs of a broad student population. </li><li>Work with the Senior and Associate Directors of FYS to develop and maintain relationships with community partners to ensure the best possible exposure to the Tampa Bay community at the lowest cost. </li><li>Develop and maintain relationships with on campus partners, including but not limited to, the Office of Orientation and Family Engagement, Office of Access and Community Programs,, Wellness Center and others, which includes partnering on events specifically designed for students living off campus. </li><li>Keep track of all OCE requests to ensure all first-year studies courses provide students with access to OCE opportunities. </li><li>Manage the OCE policies and procedures, and work with CTL staff assistant to make sure all purchase orders/requisitions/invoices are processed. </li><li>Coordinate logistics for both on and off campus events, including reserving tours/spaces, arranging the purchase and delivery of event tickets, and obtaining follow-up confirmations. </li><li>Oversee the OCE Spartan Studies budget in collaboration with the Senior and Associate Directors of FYS. </li><li>Work with the Associate Director to ensure we have adequate mentor support for large-scale events. </li><li>Oversee the FYS InvolveUT page by updating all members, creating a page for each event, and tracking attendance. </li><li>Create an end-of-the-year report highlighting the impact of OCEs which includes providing data used for retention efforts. </li><li>Present during annual FYS instructor and mentor training. </li><li>Oversee the FYS social media intern and provide feedback regularly. </li></ul> <p>Instructional staff teaching and facilitation</p> <ul> <li>Teach four sections of the UTAMPA 101/102 course sequence. </li><li>Mentor first-year students and hold individual meetings. </li><li>Manage and maintain the online grading system. </li><li>Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of all cultures and backgrounds. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Master's Degree.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in event planning and coordinating.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with MS Office, especially with Excel.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Experience teaching first-year courses.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with Canvas and Workday.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday, Navigate and InvolveUT.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong attention to detail.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.</p> </li><li> <p>High level of professionalism and customer service.</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.</p> </li></ol> <p>Required Attachments</p> <ol> <li> <p>Cover Letter.
