<p>Ward Clerk/Nursing Assistant Hybrid- Surgical Stay- Full Time- Days</p> <p>Cayuga Health System began by joining two longstanding, independent hospitals into a cohesive healthcare network providing seamless, comprehensive, community-centered care for the residents of central New York. With the recent affiliation of Arnot Health and the establishment of Xtensys, an organization focused on the integration and strategic operations of this expanding health system, we are poised to become the premier care organization across New York.</p> <p>Roles and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Direct Patient Care: Support activities of daily living (ADLs), such as toileting, ambulating, repositioning, monitoring, and recording intake/output, recording patient weight, and obtaining vital signs. Report abnormal findings or changes in the patient's condition to the RN. </li><li>Clerical Support: Order supplies, answer telephones, deliver messages, make charts, coordinate and organize transfer paperwork, and manage call bell responses. </li><li>Administrative Assistance: Make appointments, call providers, assist with prior authorizations, and coordinate bed assignments with Charge Nurses. </li><li>Patient Education and Organization: Reinforce education with patients (e.g., incentive spirometer use, fall prevention), maintain clean and organized bedside areas, and round intentionally on each patient every hour. </li><li>Interdepartmental Communication: Liaise with maintenance, housekeeping, dietary, security, and other departments as necessary. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent experience. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA). </li><li>Prior patient care, clerical, or customer service experience. </li><li>BLS certification (training provided if needed). </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard). </li><li>Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation. </li><li>Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers. </li><li>Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require. </li><li>Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation. </li></ul> <p>Location and Shift Information:</p> <ul> <li>Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850. </li><li>Shift: 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday with some flexibility for Saturdays </li><li>0% travel can be expected in this role. </li></ul> <p>Pay Range Disclosure:</p> <ul> <li>Standard Rate of $16.00 - $19.00 per hour </li></ul> <p>Cayuga Health System and its affiliates are committed to treating all patients, providers, staff, and volunteers equitably and with dignity, ensuring the highest levels of safety, care, and respect.
