<p>Description</p> <p>Upon successful completion of the police academy and upon recommendation of the Police Chief, the Police Officer Recruit may be promoted to Police Officer / Probationary (salary range of $7,600 - $9,238 per month). An eligibility list will be established and used for current and future vacancies.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <p>Police Officers perform general law enforcement duties and may have the opportunity to specialize in the selected fields of juvenile law; narcotic and dangerous drug enforcement, community relations, traffic enforcement and investigation, criminal investigation, and other equally challenging tasks.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>Requires high school graduation or equivalent; college coursework highly desirable. Police Officer Recruit candidates must be 20 1/2 years of age at time of appointment, with the provision that the candidates will turn 21 years of age within 60 days of their academy graduation date. Valid California Class "C" Driver's License required. Must pass P.O.S.T Physical Agility and background Pre-Screen Interview prior to Oral Board Interview.</p> <p>Examination:</p> <p>Those candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to participate in an oral board interview, which may cover communication practices and techniques; ability to understand laws, regulations, police literature and general law enforcement work; and to analyze situations and adopt quick, effective and reasonable reactions.</p> <p>Candidates must also pass a background investigation, a polygraph exam, a psychological evaluation, and a comprehensive medical exam, which includes a drug screen.</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Must be able to physically restrain and control combative individuals; run, climb, stoop, bend, and reach; work in varied weather conditions; and work various shifts.</p> <p>Physical Standards:</p> <p>Vision standard is 20/70 uncorrected, 20/30 corrected.</p> <p>NOTE: The information contained in this bulletin does not constitute an expressed or an implied contract.
