<p>JOB GOAL: To develop in each pupil an awareness and understanding coupled with the basic skills and knowledge applicable to engineering in the industry or public sector; and to instill in each pupil safe work habits, the importance of continuation of his/her education, and the assets of reliability, competence, loyalty, and dependability.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Teaches full-time to students in grades 9-12. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of safe working practices and equipment used in industry related to engineering. </li><li>Demonstrates familiarity with all learning strands in the MA Chapter 74 Curriculum Frameworks issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. </li><li>Delivers instruction to students in accordance with the MA Chapter 74 Curriculum Frameworks </li><li>Grades and monitors student progress through the use of progress reports, report cards, and student competency lists. </li><li>Contacts parents to notify them of their students' progress - both positive and concerning, whenever necessary. </li><li>Collaborates with program advisory, industry partners and post-secondary instructors to identify opportunities for instructional/curriculum improvements, co-operative learning placements or articulation agreements. </li><li>Attends special education Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, where the teacher's presence is required. </li><li>Follows all instructional guidelines and practices as required by the teacher contract. </li><li>Carries out other duties as assigned by the Superintendent-Director. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position may require long periods of standing and lifting up to 50lbs. The teacher may also be required to operate hand tools and motor equipment and may work in confined spaces with exposure to dust, smoke fumes, and gases.</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month, school year position (183 days). Initial salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the Teachers' Contract. Fringe benefits as outlined in the Teachers' Contract.</p> <p>EVALUATION: As per the Teachers' Contract. QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li>Must have or be eligible to obtain a Chapter 74 license to teach Engineering Technology from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Requirements to obtain: <p></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or higher, related to engineering </li><li>Three years of full-time employment experience directly related to engineering </li><li>Passing score on written and performance tests in engineering technology </li><li>One of the following: Passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills, or Passing score on the Communication and Literacy Test < </li></ul> </li></ol> <p>2.Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. 3.Must demonstrate the ability to work with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the public in creating an atmosphere where individuals feel welcome and respected. 4.Must be able to work as part of a team and independently. 5.Must have a valid driver's license. 6.Must be comfortable using computers and software. 7.Project Lead the Way experience preferred, specifically core training in one or more of the following subject areas: Principles of Engineering, Digital Electronics, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing. 8.May have such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent-Director deems appropriate and acceptable.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of Vocational Programs</p>
