<p>Overview This position will produce market-ready Engineered Wood product designs that work and meet or exceed local building codes and 84 Lumber design standards. Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend all architectural and structural plans Must understand construction concepts, load development, and be able to size all structural members Produce design work for production builders, custom builders, multi-family, and light commercial builders, as well as houses that use trussed roof systems and conventionally framed roof systems Ability to troubleshoot field problems and offer resolutions Design work must be efficient and accurate at a minimal cost Miscellaneous projects as determined by the company Experience in the following is preferred: Conceptual Design, Auto-CAD or Revit Design software experience in Mitek Sapphire, Boise Cascade, Alpine, Blue-print reading Communicate with contractors, customers, salespeople and coordinate optimal designs Responsibilities Reading architectural prints to create engineered wood placement layouts Reading and interpreting blueprints Ensure designs and accurate, optimized, and conforms to standards Request sealed engineering drawings and/or repair details and follow-up to ensure complete when necessary Generate EWP placement layouts for final construction Generate and provide accurate pricing for estimating purposes Provide job-site support, with the aid of the sales department, when requested. Aid in training of new employees when required Qualifications High level of knowledge of the construction industry Ability to solve and define practical problems in various situations to reach a valid conclusion Ability to effectively use judgment while reviewing and conducting projects and estimations Effectively determine and interpret architectural design strategies Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads, and load transfer through a building Ability to operate a computer and design software such as 20/20 Excellent oral and written communication skills Good math skills including but not limited to architectural units, fractions, geometry, and basic trigonometry 84 Lumber Company is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
