Orange County Government is committed to providing equal opportunity in employment and services to all individuals.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>General Functions</p> <p>Performs skilled work in the application of approved chemicals to control immature and adult mosquitoes. Advanced technical fieldwork performed under the general supervision of the Mosquito Control Manager. Work is reviewed through inspection of daily activity records submitted as well as monitoring effective performance of assigned duties.</p> <p>Representative Duties/Assignments</p> <ul> <li>Monitors and inspects mosquito breeding habitat to include natural and manmade areas within the County. </li><li>Operates vehicles and various spray equipment and applies products to control mosquito populations as needed. </li><li>Stores, mixes and applies pesticides in strict accordance with state and federal regulations. </li><li>Responds in a timely manner to calls for mosquito control assistance from the public. </li><li>Assists with duties related to the divisions Sentinel Chicken program. Applies natural predators known to be effective against immature mosquitoes. </li><li>Performs basic calculations to determine the correct amount of product required to treat any given area. </li><li>Maintains daily records of work activity to include pesticide use records. </li><li>Maintains vehicle, computer, and pesticide application equipment. </li><li>Assists with duties related with divisions surveillance program including setting and retrieving mosquito traps. </li><li>Identifies mosquito species in both larval and adult stages as well as various mosquito habitat. </li><li>Provides information to the public about mosquitoes and the elimination of mosquitoes. </li><li>Uses personal protective equipment as required. </li><li>Performs other related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent and twelve months experience in mosquito control, pest control, aquatic weed control, or other similar occupation.Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License.</p> <p>Must possess a Florida Public Health Pest Control License issued by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.</p> <p>Must satisfactorily complete divisional technical training program within twelve months of employment.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <p>Prefer one year of experience in any combination of the following areas: pesticide application, grounds maintenance, construction, or other related outdoor occupation.</p> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>Open Date: 06/19/2025</p> <p>Close Date: 7/5/2025</p> <p>This posting is subject to close without prior notice.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Pay Grade: 109 - From $18.18 to $23.71</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Placement based on Education and Experience</p> <p>Sign-on Incentive</p> <p>This position may be eligible for a Sign-on Incentive.
