This position description does not represent in any way a contract of employment. </li></ul> <p>Principal Accountabilities</p> <ul> <li>Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning </li><li>Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies </li><li>Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate </li><li>Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student's needs </li><li>Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success </li><li>Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student progress </li><li>Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of student information </li><li>Cannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semester </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a master's degree in communication or a master's degree with at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in the content area is required </li><li>Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level </li><li>Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community </li><li>Must be able to teach face-to-face in a prison education setting </li><li>Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction </li><li>Ability to pass a DRC background check required </li></ul> <p>Official transcripts for all post-secondary degrees (if applicable) and successful completion of a background check will be required prior to date of hire.</p>
