Our work is mission-critical, supporting the U.S. Navy and strengthening national security.</p> <p>About Department 701 - Navy Facility Engineering & Training Technologies Group</p> <p>Department 701, located at SUBASE Groton, CT, provides training support of submarines and facilities at forward sites in engineering, planning, logistics and modernization for all classes of submarines.</p> <p>Role Overview</p> <p>Our innovative architectural/engineering group specializing in the design, installation and maintenance for NAVAL Submarine Facilities and Trainers, is seeking an Intermediate Architect/Facilities Designer. The ideal candidate will bring experience in new construction, rehabilitation, institutional and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have knowledge in commercial drawings to successfully compile construction documents to be issued to local and regional NAVY Facilities Systems Commands (NAVFAC). Experience applying Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for the existing conditions, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection is necessary. In this role, communication is critical with internal/external customers, consultants, and contractors throughout the design and construction process.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop architectural drawings in accordance with established department and client standards </li><li>Collaborate with Professional Engineers on a wide varied of projects and timelines </li><li>Create and modify details/sections to implement engineers mark ups </li><li>Identify inconsistencies and coordination issues between architectural and engineered drawings. </li><li>Utilize REVIT 2024 to create and prepare accurate construction drawings based on schematic/design development sketches. </li><li>Plan, draft, and detail a set of documents up to a level of 60-80% with limited need for support. </li><li>Incorporate field best practice standards. </li></ul> <p>This job requires 25% travel to the various project locations: New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia, California, Washington, Hawaii, Guam, and Australia.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree or higher in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Interior Architecture, or Construction Management.</p> </li><li> <p>3-8 years of experience in an architectural design environment which supported the three most common types of construction; Buildings, Infrastructure and Facilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Candidates selected for interviews will be required to present a portfolio showcasing work in any areas listed in this job description and should specifically highlight REVIT skills.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>On-site construction experience. </li><li>Experience utilizing BlueBeam. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Strong interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>The candidate should be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project. </li><li>Familiarity with commercial building codes is a plus. </li><li>Incorporate field best practice standards. </li><li>Proficiency utilizing Autodesk REVIT is mandatory. </li><li>Proficiency in developing REVIT models. </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of architectural design principles and proceduresField Measuring. </li><li>Able to work independently and collaborative. </li><li>Meticulous attention to detail. </li><li>Knowledge of commercial mechanical, structural, electrical and life safety systems, with practical knowledge of the construction processes used in these areas. </li></ul> <p>Why Join Us</p> <ul> <li>We offer a workplace where integrity, innovation, and excellence drive everything we do. </li><li>Competitive Pay & Benefits - Comprehensive healthcare, retirement plans, and tuition assistance. </li><li>Career Growth - Training, mentorship, and opportunities to advance within the company. </li><li>Stability & Expansion - We're growing, adding thousands of new jobs across our facilities. </li><li>Inclusive Culture - Employee Resource Groups, diversity initiatives, and community engagement. </li><li>Impactful Work - Every role contributes directly to national defense and the U.S. Navy's mission. </li></ul>
