<p>Job Posting Title: Special Education Paraprofessional Issue# 26-13 The students, staff, and administration of George R. Austin Intermediate School (GRAIS) are excited to build our team. At GRAIS, we work to build a safe and well-balanced environment in which students are encouraged to be active participants in their learning. Position Objective: This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of students with special needs in the general education setting or in a self-contained classroom. A thriving paraprofessional is caring, compassionate, and committed to each student's success. Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and meeting IEP Goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Collects data for the purpose of progress monitoring and supporting teachers in the classroom.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists and escorts students when necessary for the purpose of attending to the student's personal hygiene and care needs and arrival to/from destinations.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends meetings and inservice presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher, research based interventions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates with supervising instructional staff, and a variety of health care professionals, and professional support personnel for the purpose of communicating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors student's daily schedule and behavior plan (e.g. class schedule, toileting, medication, appetite, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides, under the supervision of the assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans and ensuring student's success in school.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervises individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Performance of other job-related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum High School Diploma</p> </li><li> <p>Relevant school-based experience preferred Social/Civic Expectations: Freetown-Lakeville students and staff will: practice responsible citizenship; respect self and others; accept responsibility; and work cooperatively. Preferred Qualifications:</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with students in a substantially separate classroom/program.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience supporting students with significant special needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with students who have Autism and are non-verbal. Salary & Terms of Employment: In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Educators' Association contract. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.
