<p>Title:</p> <p>School Age Care</p> <p>DBM Classification:</p> <p>A9/Grade 1 - Grade 3</p> <p>Department:</p> <p>Community Education</p> <p>Salary Range:</p> <p>$16.36 - $29.59 per hour</p> <p>Employee Group:</p> <p>CE Educators</p> <p>Prepared Date:</p> <p>August 2025</p> <p>Reports to:</p> <p>Site Supervisor</p> <p>FTE/FLSA Status:</p> <p>.5 FTE (20 hours per week)-12-Months- Non-Exempt</p> <p>2 Positions Available</p> <p>SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Under the guidance of the Site Supervisor and direction of the School Age Care Coordinator, the Kids Place School Age Child care Educator assists in providing a safe, nurturing, academically enriching environment for all children. As part of the onsite childcare team, you will ensure that every child is supervised at all times. Before and after school care is offered at Aquila, Peter Hobart, PSI, and Susan Lindgren for grades K-5. Extended-day preschool is offered at Central and Lenox Community Centers. Full-day child care is offered to children K-5 on school release days and in the summer.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Monitors program activities to assure the safety of kids and a proper environment in which to learn and play. </li><li>Participates in and interacts with children and families in the program. </li><li>Teaches, plays, and interacts with children throughout the day. </li><li>Supervises and engages children in groups or one-on-one and teaches social, recreational, and conflict resolution skills through games, role-playing, and program events/activities. </li><li>Monitors program activities and support staff assigned to the program. </li><li>Discusses child development issues and provides information, guidance, or suggestions. </li><li>Works with other program staff to deal with disciplinary or behavioral issues. </li><li>Maintains attendance sheets. </li><li>Collaborates and works with the Site Supervisor, Program Coordinator, and Child Care Educator to discuss and address program needs, events, or issues. </li><li>Attends training sessions, workshops, seminars, etc. to keep skills, certifications, and knowledge current. </li><li>Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of practices, techniques, and fundamentals of child care programming and services, teaching principles, techniques, and procedures. </li><li>Knowledge of child development theories and development stages and needs. </li><li>Knowledge of District academic curriculum requirements. </li><li>Knowledge of relevant laws, rules, regulations, or guidelines pertaining to childcare programs, operations, and safety requirements. </li><li>Knowledge of Kid's Place program operational policies and procedures of the District. </li><li>Knowledge of behavioral management practices and fundamentals. </li><li>Oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Supervising groups of children in accordance with behavioral guidelines and rules to ensure an appropriate environment and the safety of participants and staff. </li><li>Planning and implementing site activities in accordance with program themes, field trips, and academic subject activities. </li><li>Implementing behavioral management practices. </li><li>Dealing with children, staff, parents, administrators, and building personnel concerning issues and activities. </li><li>Interactions require explaining program operational rules and working with others to gain cooperation and an understanding of educational issues/needs. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <ul> <li>The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>School Age Care 1</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED- Experience none </li><li>First Aid and CPR Certification preferred </li><li>Over the age of 18- Required. </li></ul> <p>School Age Care 2</p> <ul> <li>BA or higher in an unrelated field- Experience none </li><li>AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field- Experience of three months </li><li>High School Diploma- Experience six months </li><li>First Aid and CPR Certification-preferred </li><li>Over the age of 18- Required. </li></ul> <p>School Age Care 3</p> <ul> <li>BA or higher in a related field- Experience of three months </li><li>BA or higher in an unrelated field and post-secondary six credits in child and youth development, with experience for three months </li><li>AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field- Experience of six months </li><li>AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or an unrelated field- Experience one year </li><li>First Aid and CPR Certification preferred. </li><li>Over the age of 21- Required. </li></ul> <p>BENEFIT INFORMATION</p> <p>St. Louis Park Schools provides a comprehensive benefits package for employees working 20 or more hours per week.
