<p>The purpose of this position is to maintain records and to serve as a public records liaison for the citizens of Beaufort County and follows Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) procedures and policies to ensure that all records are released according to state and county law. This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <p>The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.</p> <ul> <li>Review cases and reports according to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). </li><li>Conducts research to determine the existence of records which match public requests. </li><li>Organizes, maintains, and files confidential records. </li><li>Redact responsive records. </li><li>Collaborates with internal departments to respond to requests promptly. </li><li>Coordinates timely receipt of identified records from all Departments. </li><li>Calculates required fees using established schedules, communicates fees to requestors, coordinates receipt of fees. </li><li>Scan documents in preparation for dissemination. </li><li>Compiles monthly activity reports. </li><li>Establishes and maintains complex filing systems. </li><li>Performs related work as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Requires an Associate's degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education. </li><li>Over one year and up to and including two years of public records, clerical or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:</p> <ul> <li>Criminal Justice Information Services Certification. </li></ul> <p> All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation. Beaufort County is an Equal Opportunity Employer. </p>
