<p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Job Title: CEO Date Prepared: July 2024</p> <p>Location: Beloit EEO Category: Exec/Senior Level Manager Department:</p> <p>Position reports to: CHS Board of Directors Salaried Exempt</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>The purpose of this position is to oversee, direct and implement Community Health Systems (CHS), Inc.'s Strategic Plan for long-term organizational goals. CEO manages all aspects of CHS's operational function to include: Operations, Financial Management, Long-term and Short-term Planning and Business Development. Ensures the CHS mission, values and goals are implemented. Reports directly and is accountable to the Board of Directors (BOD).</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Implements policy decisions as approved by the BOD. </li><li>Represents CHS and serves as chief spokesperson with federal, state and local officials. </li><li>Analyzes administrative, operational and public health needs and develops effective solutions. </li><li>Monitors and evaluates all service lines including productivity. </li><li>Responsible for the preparation of proposals and requests for funding. </li><li>Responsible for all grants, including application, submission, and award deliverables. </li><li>Ensures that program supervisors, managers and directors follow operating procedures and plans. </li><li>Approves significant expenditures according to financial policies. Exclusive signer for contracts. </li><li>In conjunction with Finance Leadership, provides the BOD monthly financial statements and creates the annual budget. </li><li>Oversee Human Resource Department, including staff, payroll, and benefits. Final approver of all internal pay change requests. </li><li>In conjunction with the COO, provides oversight of Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Risk Management; and all other departments that report to the COO. </li><li>In conjunction with CHS staff, attends community events, and partners with other nonprofits and health care entities to represent CHS. </li><li>Chairperson of Leadership Team Meetings. </li><li>Develop and maintain a corporate culture that fosters teamwork and CHS goals. Continually assess provider, staff, and patient satisfaction. </li><li>Active member of Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association (WPHCA), including Board Member representation. </li><li>Active member and monthly attendee of Health Equity Alliance of Rock County (HEAR) and other groups as needed. </li><li>Follows all CHS policies, procedures, regulatory and legal requirements. </li><li>Completes required trainings on time. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a health care setting. Strong financial and planning skills are required along with superior analytical skills including the ability to gather and organize data and information. Must be capable of establishing effective working relationships with both the community and staff.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE</p> <p>A minimum of a Master's degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Business or related discipline is required with 8 to 10 years' experience in health care operations. Extensive knowledge of the theories and practices of public health. Extensive knowledge of management theories and practices. Experience with budget preparation and financial management. Ability to train and direct employees. Ability to motivate program supervisors and staff. Ability to analyze complex administrative, operational and public health problems and to devise effective solutions. Experience and a proven track record in grant proposal writing. Ability to relate well to individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.</p> <p>LANGUAGE SKILLS</p> <p>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.</p> <p>MATHEMATICAL SKILLS</p> <p>Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.</p> <p>REASONING ABILITY</p> <p>Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
