<p>The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana.</p> <p>Learn more about Louisiana Department of Health</p> <p>Join the Orleans Parish Health Unit as a Registered Nurse Supervisor and lead with impact in Region 1 Public Health. This hands-on leadership role oversees nursing operations, leads the Reproductive Health Program, and provides direct care across Immunizations, STD, TB, and Reproductive Health services. You'll play a key role in clinic operations and emergency response efforts, serving on the front lines during public health threats. If you're ready to lead, serve, and strengthen community health, we encourage you to apply.</p> <p>Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:</p> <p>Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR</p> <p>A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR</p> <p>A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR</p> <p>A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.</p> <p>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Supervises clinic operations to ensure quality patient care, compliance with program requirements, appropriate follow-up, and continuous quality improvement across parish health programs. </li><li>Oversees nursing staff performance, analyzes program data for effectiveness, assists with quality management activities, and collaborates with parish, regional, and state partners in implementing program guidelines. </li><li>Provides comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process, including health histories, assessments, direct patient care, and preventive health education in Immunizations, STD, Reproductive Health, TB, and WIC programs. </li><li>Performs and interprets laboratory testing, documents and posts results in medical records, maintains required logs, ensures HIPAA compliance, and utilizes electronic systems such as LINKS, LIMS, and the EMR. </li><li>Serves as an STD/Reproductive Health clinician by conducting assessments, collecting specimens, administering medications and immunizations, collaborating on contact investigations, and providing counseling and treatment per standing orders. </li><li>Participates in emergency preparedness and statewide response activities, including Medical Special Needs Shelters, environmental health collaboration, surveillance, community education, and routine statewide fieldwork requiring frequent travel. </li></ul> <p>Position-Specific Details:</p> <p>Location: Office of Public Health / Region 1-BRCO / Jefferson Parish</p> <p>Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a Probationary appointment</p> <p>Cost Center: 3262109001</p> <p>Position Number(s): 50405002</p> <p>How To Apply:</p> <p>No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.</p> <p>To apply for this vacancy, click on the "Apply" link above and complete an electronic application, which can be used for this vacancy as well as future job opportunities.
