<p>Employees in this classification will be stationed at a designated school crossing during the time periods of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. when school is in session.</p> <p>While on duty, the school crossing guard will wear a designated regulation vest and assist pedestrians crossing a street or highway to and from school, stopping vehicular traffic when necessary with a hand held STOP sign. This employee will, under the training and supervision of the Livonia Police Traffic Bureau, work with school Safety Patrol members.</p> <p>At the time of application, an applicant must:</p> <ul> <li>Be a citizen of the United States, or a resident alien with the right to work in the United States, and </li><li>Be 18 years of age or older; and </li><li>Have a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate; and </li><li>Have acceptable hearing and visual acuity </li></ul> <p>Previous employment with public contact is highly desirable.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to follow departmental policy </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other employees and to deal tactfully with the public </li></ul>
