<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Reports To: Building and District Administration</p> <p>Description: Provide healthcare to students, perform health screenings, and coordinate referrals to medical, home or private health care providers. Serve as a liaison between school personnel, family, community and healthcare providers to advocate for healthcare and a healthy school environment.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure safety and wellbeing of students </li><li>Provide quality healthcare and services to students in need under the guidelines of school nursing </li><li>Provide leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy environment </li><li>Actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy and learning </li><li>Administer medication in compliance with medical orders and State guidelines </li><li>Supervise, monitor and evaluate health paraprofessional </li><li>Screen for illness, authorize exclusion and readmission of students with infectious and contagious diseases </li><li>Follow laws and regulations regarding reporting abuse and neglect, and illnesses to proper authorities </li><li>Maintain current records, activity logs, progress reports, treatment plans and all other necessary files </li><li>Comply with professional, ethical and legal codes of conduct, standards for Nurses as outlined by the Connecticut Department of Health and Connecticut State Department of Education </li><li>Use mandatory assessments, professional evaluations and assessments to evaluate students </li><li>Attend in-services as required </li><li>Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, education and conversation </li><li>Maintain strict confidence concerning personnel, students and operational concerns of the district </li></ul> <p>Other Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a role model for students and staff </li><li>Interact with students and staff and promote overall wellness </li><li>Respond to questions and offer support in an appropriate and timely manner </li><li>Create and maintain a professional and approachable atmosphere for all </li><li>Perform related duties as assigned by administration </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid State of Connecticut RN license issued by the Connecticut Department of Health </li><li>3-5 years of experience preferred </li><li>Certification in CPR, First Aid and AED </li><li>Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent or Board of Education may find appropriate </li><li>Ability to meet physical job requirements including computer work, electronic and written charting and notes, lift, push and/or pull various supplies and/or equipment up to maximum of 20 pounds, assisting students with ADL skills and positioning </li><li>Ability to complete work with frequent interruptions </li></ul> <p>Required knowledge and skills:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing </li><li>Effective, active listening skills and ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Organizational and problem solving skills </li><li>Excellent public relations skills </li><li>Proficient knowledge of federal, state, and local laws including the Connecticut State Department of Education governing special education </li></ul> <p>Please apply trhough Applitrack here.</p>
