<p>Position Summary</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the Building/Grounds Superintendent, this position ensures that locks, doors and security systems at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) comply with provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable fire and safety codes. The incumbent independently installs, repairs, replaces, re-keys, and adjusts mechanical and electronic locks and electronic access control systems; fabricates and installs related door components and hardware; performs a variety of inspections, adjustments and repairs to buildings and grounds; makes minor repairs such as window glass and/or screen replacements; and performs other maintenance tasks as assigned. The Locksmith-Objective works in member residences and staff-occupied spaces and must interact professionally. The incumbent possesses working knowledge of access control software, and practices safe shop and field procedures at all times.</p> <p>Locksmith Journey full job description is available to view.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Starting wage for Locksmith-Journey is $20.55 per hour per hour with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.</p> <p>Locksmith-Journey LTE is in pay schedule-pay range 03-11. For current or eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan effective at the time of hire.</p> <p>This job does not offer employee benefits.</p> <p>This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>This is a flexible part-time position with the option to pick up additional hours as desired with no required overtime.</p> <p>LTE jobs are limited to 1039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits.</p> <p>Job duties require installation and maintenance of key-in-knob locks, key duplication, issuance, and inventory. Install and maintain hard-wired, battery powered, and self-energy-generating locksets. Work with vaults and safes. Install/maintain electronic locks with proxy readers. As well as fabrication and installation of Access Control Systems and related door components and hardware.</p> <p>Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.</p> <p>Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified applicants will:</p> <p>Have Journeyman certification and/or higher education as locksmith.</p> <p>A well-qualified applicant will:</p> <p>Have experience maintaining inventory.</p> <p>Have experience with panic bars.</p> <p>Have experience using computers and computerized key management systems.</p> <p>Have experience replacing, re-pining, and opening locks by other means in both traditional key locks and electronic locking systems.</p> <p>Per Wisconsin Statute 230.26, Wisconsin residency is required for LTE appointments.
