<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>North Windham School seeks a certified Spanish Reading Interventionist to support the development of foundational literacy skills and reading comprehension in Spanish for K-4 Dual Language program students whose native or second language is Spanish. Candidate should demonstrate Spanish and English language proficiency and strong knowledge of linguistics and early literacy development in Spanish for emergent bilinguals. The ideal candidate possesses CT endorsement 902 (Bilingual Elementary Ed). A Spanish Reading Interventionist is expected to work in collaboration with Dual Language classroom teachers and other interventionists and service providers.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Ensure the safety of students. </li><li>Follows the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Windham Board of Education </li><li>Sets and reinforces clear expectations and routines </li><li>Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, uses appropriate techniques, and serves the needs of all learners in the classroom </li><li>Maintains accurate and complete records as required </li><li>Conducts parent/teacher conferences </li><li>Assesses student learning continuously and identifies areas for intervention as needed. </li><li>Keeps parents up-to-date on student progress through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences </li><li>Designs and implements assessments that measure progress and uses assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices. </li><li>Maintains ongoing communication with parents </li><li>Establishes and maintains professional relationships </li><li>Participates in professional learning by attending seminars and workshops to improve instructional practice and positively affect student achievement </li><li>Knows teaching methods, materials, and educational practices for secondary school teaching </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information </li><li>Assist with Physical Management (PMT), if needed. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other educational materials </li><li>Participate in professional development by attending seminars, workshops, and taking college coursework, among other activities. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of the Arts or Bachelor of Science </li><li>CT Bilingual Elementary Ed (902) and Remedial Reading/Language Arts (102) certifications required </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Windham Board of Education may find appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing </li><li>Practical, active listening skills </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Organizational and problem-solving skills </li><li>Ability to foster and facilitate learning and classroom management </li></ul> <p>Additional Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue </li><li>Operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions, i.e., being prepared to come to work on school days except calamity days. </li><li>Repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing </li><li>Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, read, hear, see, speak, reach, stretch with hand and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop </li><li>Frequent interruption of duties by staff, students, visitors, and/or telephone calls </li><li>Occasional requirement to travel, both daily and overnight </li><li>Occasional need to work overtime, evenings, and/or weekends </li><li>Occasional requirement to lift, carry, push, and/or pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds </li></ul> <p>Evaluation:</p> <p>Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions set by the Windham Public Schools.</p> <p>Click to Apply at:</p> <p>WindhamPublicSchools</p> <p>WINDHAM IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER</p> <p>It is the policy of the Windham Public Schools to ensure equal employment opportunity to every person regardless of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender; gender identity or expression, sexual preference or physical and mental disability; and to ensure equal educational opportunity for all students and to prohibit unlawful discrimination because of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender, sexual preference, or physical and mental disability in the school district's educational program and activities.</p>
