<p>Description</p> <p>This position is primarily responsible for overseeing and providing direction to St. Louis County Justice Services' programming and is responsible for developing, implementing, and/or administering department and division strategies. This position is responsible for ensuring program compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, guidelines, and organization policy, as established through policy development and/or other regulations.</p> <p>As an employer, St. Louis County cares about the health and well-being of our employees. For more information regarding this program, please visit https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <p>Essential Function Examples</p> <ul> <li> <p>Oversee daily operational needs related to institutional and community correction programs and services designed to positively impact the lives of residents and persons under supervision, to include oversight of specialty court programs in the interest of public safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee multiple functional areas including but not limited to:</p> </li><li> <p>Community corrections (i.e., Diversion, Pretrial Services and Probation),</p> </li><li> <p>Specialty courts, in-house correctional services (i.e., to include reentry, workforce development, and educational programming),</p> </li><li> <p>Correctional counseling,</p> </li><li> <p>Community outreach (i.e., to include recruitment),</p> </li><li> <p>Employee wellness</p> </li><li> <p>Diversity and inclusion training.</p> </li><li> <p>Staff development in functional areas</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as liaison with criminal justice agencies, County departments, community partners, institutions of higher education, and other related agencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Represent Justice Services at conferences, seminars, meetings, and participate in collaborative partnerships with other agencies or applicable working groups for educational and recruitment purposes.</p> </li><li> <p>Represent the Department of Justice Services by serving in the Department Director's and/or Deputy Director, Justice Services Security and/or Superintendents absence.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs fiscal management responsibilities as required by the department.</p> </li></ul> <p>Marginal Function Examples</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties as required or assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>A Bachelor's degree and ten years of related work experience. Related experience shall consist of work in the following areas: criminal justice, social work, psychology, corrections, probation and parole, and substance/addiction treatment. Experience as a police or security office is not creditable. Candidates with no degree must have at least 14 years of work-related experience.</p> <p>Possession of a valid Drivers License.</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>ELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.</p> <p>The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.</p> <p>The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.</p> <p>All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory.
