<p>The Director of Accounting helps lead the company's accounting operations with a strong focus on improving processes, strengthening controls, and accelerating the month-end close. This role works closely with the Controller/Treasurer to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong liquidity management, and well-coordinated accounting activities.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li>Month-End and Year-End Close </li></ol> <ul> <li>Coordinate with Controller to manage financial close calendar, including deadlines, accountability, and cross-functional dependencies. </li><li>Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements. </li><li>Partner with the Controller/Treasurer to ensure reporting aligns with financial statement requirements. </li><li>Oversee revenue accounting, ensuring accurate and timely recognition in accordance with GAAP. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Accounting Operations Leadership </li></ol> <ul> <li>Evaluate current workflows and implement process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Collaboration With Controller/Treasurer </li></ol> <ul> <li>Coordinate with the Controller/Treasurer to align close results, cash impacts, and reporting needs. </li><li>Provide timely, accurate data needed for forecasts, covenant calculations, and compliance reporting. </li><li>Align on priorities related to audits, system improvements, and internal controls. </li><li>Serve as backup to the Controller/ Treasurer for certain reporting and governance tasks, as appropriate. </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Process Improvement & Systems Optimization </li></ol> <ul> <li>Play a key role in the cross-functional project to review and redesign a multi-level data reporting hierarchy and a corresponding general ledger structure. </li><li>Shorten the close timeline while improving accuracy and control. </li><li>Lead automation and system enhancements (ERP, AP automation, workflow tools). </li><li>Establish KPIs to monitor accounting operational performance (close timeline, reconciliation completion, exception rates). </li></ul> <ol start="5"> <li>Internal Controls & Audit Readiness </li></ol> <ul> <li>Maintain and strengthen internal controls across accounting processes. </li><li>Support annual audit, lender reviews, or board reporting, coordinating closely with the Controller/Treasurer. </li></ul> <ol start="6"> <li>Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration </li></ol> <ul> <li>Partner with FP&A, Operations, HR, and other departments to ensure timely and accurate information flow. </li><li>Act as a key accounting point of contact for senior leadership. </li><li>Protect the organization's value by keeping information secure and confidential. </li><li>Understand and exemplify the practice's branding, culture, mission and vision. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 10 years of accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role. </li><li>Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; CPA required. </li><li>Strong quantitative and analytical skills, combined with solid business and accounting/financial acumen. </li><li>Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial concepts, and corporate finance principles. </li><li>Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership. </li><li>Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing Accounting team. </li><li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively. </li><li>Self-driven, independent thinker. </li><li>Private Equity experience preferred. </li><li>Healthcare experience is a plus. </li><li>High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint. </li><li>Experience working with and sourcing data from various BI tools. </li><li>Experience working with ERP systems.
