<p>Stoughton Public Schools has an immediate opening for a Part Time Finance Assistant.</p> <p>Union: Non-aligned Work Days/Year: 15 hours per week, year-round, 5 hours per day M, T, W each week Reports to: Asst. Superintendent for Finance & Operations</p> <p>This position provides hands-on operations- and administrative support to the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations. The position may occasionally require additional hours. Training will be provided to a candidate who can meet the knowledge, skills, and ability requirements. The successful candidate will: be professional have strong time management skills and a strong work ethic maintain confidentiality have strong interpersonal skills and be tactful be organized, pro-active, and exercise sound judgement Duties include but are not limited to: Payroll timecard entry, reconciling absences v. payroll, other payroll support tasks as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations; this is a weekly and ongoing priority which is deadline-driven and requires strict attention to detail and the ability to prioritize Manage Massachusetts Teacher Retirement including monthly reporting, updating information in the MTRS system and completing applications and related forms Assist with other payroll-related tasks as directed by the Asst. Superintendent Manage and reconcile student activities accounts Support other Finance Office staff during periods of high demand, cover for absences and work on special projects as assigned by the Asst. Superintendent Track Professional Development and certifications of Finance Office staff Keep the Asst. Superintendent's calendar, arrange meetings, type and proof documents Any other duties or tasks as may be assigned by the Asst. Superintendent or their designee Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma Associates' degree or higher preferred (preferably in Business, Management, Accounting, or related) Two years of experience as senior/confidential Admin. Assistant, Office Manager, business or accounting assistant or similar position. Private sector experience qualifies</p> <p>Or any combination of skills, knowledge and experience that the Superintendent and Asst. Superintendent of Finance & Operations deem suitable</p> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Intermediate or higher skills in utilizing Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word) Experience using or ability to quickly obtain proficiency with software applications such as MUNIS Excellent written and oral English communication skills Thorough knowledge of standard office procedures and practices Ability to recognize and resolve problems with minimal administrative intervention Accuracy and attention to detail Strong analytical ability Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work at a desk; regularly convey information to school employees and the public; regularly move about the office to access file cabinets and office machinery; and traverse stairs. Ability to operate a keyboard and calculator at efficient speed and to view computer screens for extended period of time. Requires the ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, and sounds associated with job-related objects, materials, and tasks. SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination and the ability to distinguish color. The employee must be able to input information into a computer, read material from a computer monitor as well as printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively other staff members in order to exchange accurate information. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in this environment ranges from quiet to loud. Generally, a fast-paced environment. Business office staff interact with many staff members and outside stakeholders. The employee must be able to drive their own vehicle to all Stoughton school buildings and municipal town offices.
