<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Teacher/Special Education Teacher</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>6/13/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Bedford High School</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Bedford Public Schools</p> <p>Invites applications for the position of:</p> <p>Special Education Liaison (Social / Emotional)</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to support high school students with social-emotional disabilities in a full inclusion setting. This role involves collaborating with general education teachers to adapt curriculum, provide individualized supports, and promote positive behavioral and emotional growth. The teacher will also play a key role in supporting students transitioning back to school following hospitalization, ensuring a smooth and supportive reintegration process. Strong communication, case management, and trauma-informed practices are essential</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Instruction:</p> <p>Develop and implement schedules for students' services in accordance with their IEPs' service delivery.</p> <p>Coordinate schedules with classroom teachers and other specialists' service delivery.</p> <p>Select appropriate instructional programs and methodologies, plan, and implement instruction that matches students' IEP goals and objectives.</p> <p>Provide appropriate instruction to address IEP goals and objectives, and differentiate instructional accordingly.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide individualized instructional support and accommodations for students with social-emotional disabilities in a full inclusion high school setting.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to implement IEPs and promote student success.</p> </li><li> <p>Support students transitioning from hospitalization by developing and implementing reintegration plans tailored to their emotional and academic needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize trauma-informed practices to foster a safe, supportive, and responsive classroom environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in IEP meetings and student support teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Offer emotional and behavioral support, crisis intervention when needed, and connections to appropriate school and community resources.</p> </li></ul> <p>Administer MCAS with accommodations or develop portfolios for MCAS alternate assessment, as outlined in student/s' IEP s.</p> <p>Write reports based on evaluations and present reports at Team eligibility determination meetings.</p> <p>Individually test students and complete necessary assessment components for Special Education and Section 504 initial evaluations and reevaluations.</p> <p>Liaison Responsibilities:</p> <p>Serve as a Special Education liaison, which includes parent/guardian contact, scheduling of meetings, and completion of necessary paperwork for evaluations and Team meetings.</p> <p>Participate in Team evaluation and review meetings for students on caseload.</p> <p>Write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).</p> <p>Develop yearly transition plans for students who are 14+.</p> <p>Collaborate with colleagues on building to building transition</p> <p>Complete progress reports for all students, according to the schedule set by school and special education regulations.</p> <p>Coordinate progress reports from all service providers.</p> <p>Paraprofessionals:</p> <p>Consult with special education paraprofessionals; including planning, coaching, modeling.</p> <p>Provide feedback and input regarding paraprofessionals to Special Education Program Administrator</p> <p>Communication/Consultation:</p> <p>Consult with parents/guardians, classroom teachers, related service providers, school nurse, and paraprofessionals, regarding planning and students' program needs.</p> <p>Consult with classroom teachers and special education paraprofessionals regarding accommodations and modifications.</p> <p>Conduct parent/guardian-teacher conferences during conference periods identified on school calendar.</p> <p>Communicate frequently with parents/guardians of students of caseload (e.g. email, telephone, etc.)</p> <p>Participate in school Open House for parents/guardians according to schedule set each year.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Participate in professional development opportunities to increase knowledge base and skills, as well as maintain licensure.</p> <p>Attend and participate in department meetings.</p> <p>Maintain the high level of confidentiality and professionalism expected of all faculty.</p> <p>Perform other related tasks or duties at the discretion of the Special Education Program Administrator and/or Principal.</p> <p>Master's Degree preferred</p> <p>Licensure in Moderate Special Needs (5-12)</p> <p>Teaching experience preferred</p> <p>Salary/Benefits:</p> <p>Per BEA and BPS Contract</p> <p>Bedford Public Schools are committed to hiring, mentoring, and retaining a diverse staff.
