<p>WAYLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY</p> <p>2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR</p> <p>JOB POSTING</p> <p>Title: .5 FTE High School Chorus / General Music, 1 year Leave of Absence</p> <p>Position Summary: Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Chorus and General Music Teacher to join our team. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our youngest learners.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):</p> <ul> <li> <p>Teaching responsibilites include:</p> </li><li> <p></p> </li><li>Direct High School Choruses <p></p> </li><li> <p>Teach Piano class</p> </li><li> <p>Teach A Cappella Workshop class</p> </li><li> <p>Possible A Cappella after school stipend</p> </li><li> <p>Possible involvement in Fall Musical</p> </li><li> <p>Create an environment of belonging that is conducive to students' growth as learners and community members;</p> </li><li> <p>Embrace the diversity of the students and ensure that they all have equitable opportunities for learning and belonging;</p> </li><li> <p>Provide appropriate learning experiences in applicable content areas and SEL, guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements;</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor students' understanding of the curriculum and strategically adjust instruction, materials, and assessments to meet the needs of students;</p> </li><li> <p>Keep current in the developments in the content area and pedagogy;</p> </li><li> <p>Hold high expectations for all students, provide appropriate support, and serve as a facilitator of student learning;</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participate in the accomplishment of the goals and priorities of the Fine Arts department, school, and district;</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate often and effectively with colleagues regarding curriculum, assessments, and meeting individual student needs;</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with colleagues in school counseling, special education, and ESL departments, as well as administration and clinical staff when necessary;</p> </li><li> <p>Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with families/caregivers to support students' academic and social-emotional development.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Education: High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred. </li><li>Experience: Previous experience working with high school-aged children is highly preferred. </li><li>Cultural Competency: Experience with diverse populations and a strong commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion. </li></ul> <p>Professionalism: Strong communication skills and the personal characteristics necessary to serve as a positive role model for students.</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>DESE Licensure: Must hold valid Massachusetts licensure in content area </li><li>SEI Endorsement: Evidence of Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement is mandatory. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule and Compensation:</p> <ul> <li>Hours: Position is 0.5 and will be scheduled for morning rotation </li><li>Salary: Commensurate with the WEA Unit A Salary Scale Example: (.5FTE) Master's through Master's +30 range $95,754 - $126,651 </li></ul> <p>Wayland Public Schools (WPS) provides a desirable benefits package for full-time employees which include: health, employer sponsored Health Savings Account, dental, vision, long-term disability, life insurance, 403(b), Dependent Care Account, Flexible Spending Accounts, and participation in retirement pension boards.</p> <p>WPS is an equal opportunity employer committed to the fullest extent to the principle of the dignity of all people and of their labors and will take action to ensure that any individual within the District who is responsible for hiring and/or personnel supervision understands that applicants are employed, assigned, and promoted without regard to their race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, genetic information, ancestry, military status, disability or pregnancy or pregnancy-related condition.
