<p>Position Summary</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>York Country Day School seeks an experienced and innovative full-time 5th-grade elementary teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching elementary-aged children, knowledgeable of childhood cognitive developmental needs and appropriate practices, well-versed in child-centered learning, and capable of creating an environment that fosters a love of learning. The individual selected will be expected to motivate, assess, engage, and develop student learning while managing the routine daily activities of Lower School students.</p> <p>The YCDS faculty is innovative and collaborative, and we seek candidates to complement the strengths of our program and add their own expertise and background to provide additional breadth to the core curriculum.</p> <p>Outcome:</p> <p>Looking for an experienced, highly qualified, and energetic 5th grade teacher as an addition to the YCDS Lower School faculty for the 2026-2027 school year.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. </li><li>Along with students, create an inclusive and inviting learning environment in the classroom and throughout the Lower School. </li><li>Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. </li><li>Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. </li><li>Support student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. </li><li>Observe, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance and development. </li><li>Encourage and monitor individual students' progress, and use this information to adjust teaching strategies. </li><li>Monitor student progress and provide differentiated instruction and materials as needed. </li><li>Participate in school and parent meetings. </li><li>Communicate regularly to students, parents, colleagues, and administration about student progress and needs. </li><li>Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. </li></ul> <p>Experience and Education Required</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree with a major in elementary education </li><li>Master's degree with a major in elementary education is preferred </li><li>A minimum of five years of teaching experience preferred </li></ul> <p>Required Skills and Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A collaborative mindset and commitment to professional growth and personal development </li><li>Experience with differentiated instruction and appreciation of each child as an individual with diverse needs </li><li>Experience integrating technology and applying 21st-century learning within the classroom </li><li>Knowledge of and experience with STEAM/STEM learning experiences for students </li><li>Along with students, create an inclusive and inviting learning environment in the classroom and throughout the Lower School. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>York College of Pennsylvania is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Non-Discriminatory.
