<p>SUMMARY: Reporting to the Program Manager of Gender &Sexuality Behavioral Health Program, the Licensed Clinical Therapist (LICSW) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats a wide range of psycho-social problems, applying individual clinical social work skills in order to assist patients and their families in the resolution of personal and environmental problems, attributable to mental or physical illness, which prevent them from achieving their highest level of psycho-social functioning. The primary focus of this role will be treating patients in the Gender &Sexuality Behavioral Health Program and general adult psychiatry &behavioral health patients. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Completes full biopsychosocial assessments on patients in the Department of Psychiatry outpatient program with a primary focus on LGBTQ+, gender and sexuality. Assists in planning a comprehensive care program for patients. This may involve case management, referral to community agencies, and obtaining resources for those patients who require a higher level of care. Develops treatment plans, supports initiates, provides clinical intervention, utilizing individual and group treatment modalities, and analyzes course and results of treatment. Participates as a team member in conferences concerning patients with other health care personnel and community agencies. Assesses advocacy needs, and coordinates appropriate advocacy activities within the hospital and in the community with an emphasis on self-determination for the client system. As relevant to clinical assignment, remains current on available community resources, and accesses them as needed. Maintains and enhances professional expertise through appropriate educational activities. May attend training for specific areas of clinical responsibility. Participates in quality assurance activities in accordance to department, hospital and The Joint Commission standards. Adheres to departmental and hospital policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment of care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Master's degree in Social Work and licensed through the RI Department of Health as a LICSW. Must be eligible for credentialing to provide independent psychotherapy, both individual and family. Training and experience necessary to address the specific needs of the patients served in assigned area of responsibility Gender, Sexuality and working with LGBTQ+ population; this includes particular needs and cultural patterns of the patient populations being served. Analytical and therapy skills necessary to evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, initiate therapy and evaluate results. Ability to effectively interact with patients, families, medical staff and outside agencies in providing services. EXPERIENCE: At least one year of clinical experience working with LGBTQ+/gender and sexuality population and general mental health counseling. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Performs independently within department policies and practices.Refers specific complex problems to program manager or his designee, where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
