This is a fixed-term renewable position. Appointments will be made at the Teaching Faculty rank (TL025/TL026) for qualified candidates.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Teach developmental and/or introductory level Letters & Science Math courses (e.g., MATH 75, MATH 92, MATH 98, MATH 102, MATH 103, MATH 105, MATH 108) appropriate for First-Year Bridge curriculum; hold appropriate office hours; attend orientation activities; participate in instructors' meetings; perform required grading, assessment, and reporting tasks.</p> <ul> <li>Assists in developing techniques and/or model programs for carrying out instructional goals in disciplinary area and may help identify ways in which new techniques could be of assistance </li><li>Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements </li><li>Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy </li><li>Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading </li><li>Supervises the day to day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support as needed </li><li>Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties </li><li>May work with faculty or teaching professors to identify and develop new methods of advancing instruction in the discipline </li><li>May make presentations to faculty and to staff members on instructional programs and techniques </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Mathematics, or a Master's Degree in a closely related field (such as Mathematics Education) with at least 18 credit hours of successful graduate course work in Mathematics. </li><li>Successful experience teaching introductory and/or developmental math courses at the university level. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Terminal degree in Mathematics or a related discipline </li><li>Successful teaching experience in introductory and/or developmental math courses with diverse student and/or academically at-risk populations. </li><li>Evidence of use of successful student-centered teaching strategies </li></ul> <p>Target Salary Range $44,000 - $48,000.00 Benefits and Total Rewards</p> <p>As part of UWM's commitment to supporting the success of our team members through positive experiences, employees are provided with Benefits to Benefit You and Your Life.
