Resumes are accepted as supplemental information only and will not be used as a substitute for the application, you must complete the application in full.</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>The position involves assisting and coordinating Human Resource Department activities including, but not limited to, employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, training, FMLA, workers' compensation and legal compliance as outlined in the Personnel Administration Program.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Assists in the supervision of a variety of programs and policies regarding employees, such as advertising job positions, recruitment, processing applications, verifying employment, separation, union contracts and compensation schedule in compliance with the County's policies and procedures. </li><li>Communicates with other departments, employees, applicants, administrators and staff; provides information and assistance regarding recruitment, transfers, employment, personnel records, and policies. </li><li>Assists in scheduling various meetings and employee programs and events in compliance with department needs. </li><li>Conducts employee orientation programs like introducing personnel, employment benefits, payroll and assisting in filing of enrollment forms. </li><li>Provides written references, conveys information through developed written materials such as forms, brochures, procedures, and pamphlets required for documentation activities. </li><li>Ensures accurate information is reflected in the payroll database, verifies and provides input regarding data and pay changes. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality concerning personnel actions, investigations, legal actions, termination and non-renewal documents and organizational plans. </li><li>Provides recommendations to the Human Resource Manager on training programs, potential trouble areas and many other opportunities. </li><li>Provides overall assistance and research support to Human Resource Manager. </li><li>Manages the FMLA process. </li><li>Assists the Human Resource Manager with Workers Compensation including incident tracking, providing monthly reports and annual insurance billing </li><li>Participates in new hire and investigative interviews. </li><li>Cross trains in other office duties. </li><li>Performs work at assigned location during specified business hours. </li><li>Performs related additional duties as required and assigned. </li></ul> <p>Position Human Resource Generalist Position Requirements</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent; </li><li>Associates degree in Human Resources or closely related field is preferred; </li><li>Three (3) years of Human Resource experience or closely related field; </li><li>Or equivalent combination of education and experience. </li></ul> <p>Licenses or Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>None </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Some situations will require early morning or late evening hours. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel administration. </li><li>Knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office products. </li><li>Skills in communicating clearly, in both oral and written form. </li><li>Ability to communicate with others in a professional and helpful manner while simultaneously building credibility and rapport. </li><li>Ability to utilize a variety of advisory data and information such as policy and procedure manual, federal and state employment laws and regulations, payroll records, payroll reconciliation reports, statutes and other non-routine correspondence. </li><li>Ability to advise and provide interpretation to others how to apply policies, procedures and standards to specific situations. </li><li>Organizational skills to assist in the functioning of the Human Resource Department. </li><li>Ability to make public presentations. </li><li>Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>The work is sedentary and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The work also requires mental and visual acuity, speaking, balancing, feeling; picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand; grasping; picking, holding or otherwise working with the whole hand; hearing, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, stooping, talking, and walking.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>The work is performed indoors in an office environment with low to moderate noise level.
