The ideal candidate will foster inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and a hands-on approach to science instruction. This role requires an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement, ensuring that all students, including English Language Learners (ELLs), receive high-quality science instruction in an inclusive and supportive environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Curriculum & Instruction</p> <ul> <li> <p>Develop and implement a standards-aligned high school science curriculum that incorporates inquiry-based learning, hands-on experiments, and real-world applications.</p> </li><li> <p>Teach courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Environmental Science, integrating project-based learning and interdisciplinary connections.</p> </li><li> <p>Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, ensuring accessibility for ELLs and students with disabilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Incorporate technology, data analysis, and scientific literacy into instruction to enhance student engagement and learning.</p> </li></ul> <p>Student Engagement & Academic Support</p> <ul> <li> <p>Foster a classroom environment where students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific reasoning skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and inform instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide targeted support to English Language Learners (ELLs), ensuring equitable access to rigorous science content.</p> </li><li> <p>Support students in developing science portfolios, participating in research projects, and engaging in STEM-related extracurricular activities.</p> </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & School Engagement</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate science concepts into other disciplines through EL Education's expeditionary learning model.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives to continuously improve instructional practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate regularly with families to support student growth and success in science learning.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as an advisor or mentor to students, supporting their academic and personal development.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Experience</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).</p> </li><li> <p>Massachusetts teaching certification in Science (9-12).</p> </li><li> <p>SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement required.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience teaching high school science in an urban school setting.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-centered learning.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support student learning and the overall success of Codman Academy.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience with EL Education or project-based learning.</p> </li><li> <p>Background in supporting ELLs and students with diverse learning needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Passion for STEM education and commitment to equity in science education.</p> </li></ul> <p>Salary Range: Based on CACPS scale</p> <p>Why Join Codman Academy?</p> <p>Codman Academy is a mission-driven charter school committed to fostering rigorous academics, character development, and real-world learning experiences.
