If this sounds like an organization you would like to be a part of, we would love to meet you.</p> <p>ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE:</p> <p>The Medical Assistant, Laboratory Services will communicate and provide excellent patient-care services in our clinical laboratory. This role will take vitals, verify/record patients' identity in their medical charts, and other exam room duties. Additionally, this role will draw blood from patients and donors for analysis or other specified medical purposes.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Medical Assistant Duties</p> <ul> <li>Takes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake information </li><li>Performs clinical procedures, such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, or EKGs </li><li>Assesses patient needs and provides education and resources accordingly </li><li>Ensures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and ready for examinations and procedures </li></ul> <p>Laboratory Assistant Duties</p> <ul> <li>Assembles equipment according to standard protocols for specified tests and procedures, such as tourniquet, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collections devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray </li><li>Conducts interviews with patients and donors to verify their identity to their corresponding medical labels for blood samples </li><li>Provides patients and donors an overview and instruction of the procedures they will be conducting; answer any patient questions pertaining to instructions or procedures </li><li>Follows all standard protocols for drawing blood from patients and donors; seek assistance from a supervisor for any complications outside of standard protocol </li><li>Dispose of all used apparatuses in their designated receptables </li><li>Provide patients and donors with post blood draw instructions </li><li>Completes ongoing/annual training for position compliance </li><li>Performs quality control by checking daily temperatures and performing routine controls for testing at the sites </li><li>Prepares EOM report to submit to the Laboratory Operations Manager </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma/GED required </li><li>Valid medical assistant certificate from an accredited program required </li><li>Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines- may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards. </li><li>1 year of medical assistant experience required </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):</p> <ul> <li> <p>Familiarity with medical procedures and terminology</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with electronic health records system experience preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Intermediate computer and data entry skills</p> </li><li> <p>Must use sound judgment to anticipate needs of patients and providers</p> </li><li> <p>Flexibility with changing priorities and time sensitive deadlines</p> </li><li> <p>Use emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate communication and patient care</p> </li><li> <p>Exemplify compassion to patients and team members</p> </li><li> <p>Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Farsi, or English/Arabic preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift/carry 15 lbs/weight </li><li>Ability to stand for long periods of time </li></ul> <p>Pay Range: $24.95 - 34.93 per hour, depending on experience</p> <p>Compensation Disclosure: The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate's overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs.
