<p>The Department of Theater at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in design beginning in the fall semester of 2026. There is a possibility of renewal for one to two additional years, contingent on department needs and successful teaching in the first year. Completion of the MFA or equivalent professional experience is</p> <p>required prior to or shortly after the date of hire.</p> <p>The field of specialization is open, and versatile candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: scenic, costume, sound and/or projection design. The successful candidate will be engaged in multiple design disciplines, and take an innovative approach to design practice. Candidates with interests in object-based learning and/or developing interdisciplinary, cross-listed courses in multimedia, installation, environmental, or sustainable design practices are especially encouraged to apply.</p> <p>The teaching assignment of five courses per year (or the equivalent) will include at least one introductory design course, a course in the candidate's field(s) of specialization, as well as the design of two departmental productions per year. The successful candidate may also be asked to contribute to all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
