<p>MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND DIRECTOR</p> <p>Eighty percent (80%) of all Frankfort Middle School students are enrolled in one of our three music programs. Therefore we are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Middle School Band Director to develop and lead a dynamic band program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about music education, skilled in instrumental instruction, and committed to fostering student growth, teamwork, and musical excellence. This role requires strong leadership, musical expertise, and the ability to inspire and engage middle school students.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Plan and direct the middle school band program, including beginning, intermediate, and advanced ensembles. </li><li>Teach instrumental music classes during the regular school day and conduct before/after-school rehearsals as needed. </li><li>Prepare students for performances, including concerts, festivals, parades, and other school or community events. </li><li>Develop and implement a curriculum aligned with state and national music education standards. </li><li>Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning and growth. </li><li>Manage instrument inventory, music library, and band room organization. </li><li>Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to support the band program. </li><li>Coordinate student participation in extracurricular activities such as honor bands, solo and ensemble contests, and music camps. </li><li>Maintain communication with families regarding student progress, events, and program goals. </li><li></li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field. </li><li>Valid teaching certification/license in Music Education (as required by the state). </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in instrumental music instruction and ensemble direction. </li><li>Experience working with middle school students in an educational or instructional setting preferred. </li><li>Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills. </li><li>Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying skill levels. </li><li>Experience with music technology and arranging/adapting music for student ensembles. </li><li>Experience coordinating large performances and managing logistics for events. </li><li>Knowledge of current pedagogical practices in music education. </li><li></li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>A new Frankfort Middle School Performing Arts Center will be ready for use at the start of the 2025-2026 school year that includes a 600 person auditorium with state of the art sound system as well as brand new (large) music classrooms. </li><li>Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. </li><li>Health, dental, and vision insurance. </li><li>Professional development opportunities. </li><li>Supportive and collaborative work environment. </li></ul> <p>If you are an enthusiastic educator with a passion for inspiring young minds in the field of Choral Music, we encourage you to apply!</p> <p>To Apply: Please submit your application, resume, cover letter, and references through the Community Schools of Frankfort employment portal.</p> <p>If you have questions about the position, please contact Kelly Berenda, FMS Principal at berendak@frankfort.k12.in.us</p>
