<p>Assistant Director of Out of District Special Education Programs</p> <p>Description: The Assistant Director of Out of District Special Education Programs shall ensure the integrity of the IEP development process for all students in Out of District placements. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and licensed teacher and administrator in the respective discipline area who has demonstrated exemplary teaching and instructional leadership skills.</p> <p>Working Time:</p> <p>The Assistant Director of Out of District Special Education Programs will be required to work 226 days, exclusive of holidays. The length of the work day will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>The base salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Everett Teachers Association Unit B.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>A Master's degree from an accredited institution. </li><li>A graduate or an undergraduate major in special education </li><li>Five years or more of teaching experience. </li><li>Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification for Special Education Administrator (All Levels) and moderate or severe special education </li><li>Must possess the Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Administrators Endorsement. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>EPS respects linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring value to the district's culture and diversity. </li><li>Familiarity with an urban school district. </li><li>Previous leadership experience in leading a world language department. </li><li>Experience working with students with disabilities and multilingual learners. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure the integrity of the IEP development process for all students in out-of-district placements. </li><li>Review IEPs for compliance of all special education programs in out-of-district placements. </li><li>Monitor the progress of students placed in out-of-district programs. </li><li>Attend TEAM meetings as a district representative for students placed in out-of-district placement. </li><li>Ensure all necessary procedures, paperwork, updated testing, meetings, etc., are followed. Hold necessary meetings with all out-of-district providers. </li><li>Assist ETLs/Principals with scheduling Special Education students who re-enter the district, as necessary, during the school year. </li><li>Ensure that Special Education students receive all services identified in their Individual Education Plans. </li><li>Organize the IEP meeting schedule for all out-of-district students while notifying parents, staff, and students. </li><li>Monitor the service of out-of-district students, including outside counseling referrals, outside placements, and specific parental requests. </li><li>Communicate with hospitals for evaluations and discharge summaries of students. </li><li>Ensure that out-of-district Special Education students have the appropriate courses needed to fulfill all graduation requirements. </li><li>Work with the Department of Developmental Services and other state agencies on behalf of students who are graduating and/or aging out for successful transitions into post-secondary opportunities and/or independent living. </li><li>Oversee students' successful transition from outside placements to the Everett Public Schools. </li><li>Supervise and assist in the evaluation of all Special Education teachers as assigned. </li><li>Ensure transportation for students is arranged as needed. </li><li>Visit students and programs as needed in out-of-district placements. </li><li>Support completing special education data collection out-of-district placements in ASPEN for state data submissions. </li><li>Attend and support the implementation of SEPAC meetings. </li><li>Facilitating and managing the completion of state-required paperwork and compliance for instruction and participation of students with disabilities. </li><li>Assist the Director of Special Education in assigned tasks to meet the district's responsibilities for special education reporting and compliance. </li><li>Stay current on instructional methods, educational materials, and technology that can improve the teaching and learning of students with disabilities. </li><li>Perform such other duties and assume all other responsibilities that the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and Director of Special Education may assign. </li></ul> <p>The Everett Public Schools, in accordance with its nondiscrimination policies, does not discriminate in its programs, facilities, or employment or educational opportunities on the basis of race, color, age, criminal record (inquiries only), disability, homelessness, sex/gender, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, genetics or military status, and does not tolerate any form of retaliation, or bias-based intimidation, threat or harassment that demeans individuals' dignity or interferes with their ability to learn or work.</p> <p>Updated: 06/5/2025</p>
