<p>This position is is located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.</p> <p>VA LPN Specialty Pay Scale VA25</p> <p>The incumbent has basic knowledge and skills necessary for a concentrated effort and is somewhat independent in carrying out standardized procedures of limited complexity. The incumbent is responsible to deliver fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned patients while developing technical competencies. This position may entail other duties as assigned and travel duties as assigned and travel to the community level clinics</p> <p>a. Participates in the interdisciplinary team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's treatment plan.</p> <p>b. Interacts with patients in groups in accordance with the patient's treatment plan.</p> <p>c. Observes, identifies, and responds to the patients' needs for nursing, medication, and equipment assisted care and recognizes deviations from normal.</p> <p>d. Uses practical knowledge of human behavior, motivations, and reactions to situations in working effectively with patients, family, and other staff members.</p> <p>e. Demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.</p> <p>Patient Care Activities, as appropriate to assignment, includes but is not limited to:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Assists with data collection for outpatients and new admissions.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides for the patient's privacy.</p> </li><li> <p>Observes, reports, and documents signs and symptoms of patient's general condition. Attends patient care conferences. Provides input into the Nursing Care Plan and/or the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients according to nursing standards and Medical Center policy and procedure. This includes, but is not limited to:</p> </li></ol> <p>a. Bathing, showering, oral care, shaving, nail care, feeding, turning, positioning, and ambulating as directed.</p> <p>b. Collecting and labeling specimens, e.g. sputum, emesis, urine, and stools.</p> <p>c. Performing enterostomal care, perinea! care, administering enemas, and colostomy irrigations.</p> <p>d. Providing bowel/bladder training, applying external urinary devices, and performing bladder catheterization.</p> <p>e. Providing oral, nasopharyngeal, and tracheal care.</p> <p>f. Administering oxygen as directed.</p> <p>g. Administering enteral feedings.</p> <p>h. Providing wound care as ordered and reporting any changes and/or progress to the RN.</p> <p>i. Applying abdominal binders, anti-embolic stockings, ace bandage, and alternating pressure boots as directed.</p> <p>j. Providing for lifting, moving, transferring, and/or transporting patients.</p> <p>k. Using patient lifting devices, pressure relief mattresses, hyper/hypothermia blankets, electronic scales, and feeding pumps.</p> <p>I. Applying protective/supporting devices, restraints as directed and per policy. m. Providing post-mortem care as directed.</p> <p>m.
