<p>Department Overview</p> <p>The purpose of this position is to provide support to OHSU outpatient pharmacy specialty services and the</p> <p>Knight Cancer medical/surgical oncology pharmacy program. Responsibilities include prescription prior</p> <p>authorization and approval, prescription dispensing, medication histories, patient outreach and medication</p> <p>assistance. The individual is required to have extensive knowledge of third party processing, EpicCare and</p> <p>Epic Willow. This position will primarily work on VPV floors 3-7 but may be asked to work in an OHSU</p> <p>outpatient pharmacy when other team members are on leave.</p> <p>Function/Duties of Position</p> <ul> <li>Assists in all technical support activities relating to prior authorization requests and approvals. </li><li>In-charge of obtaining medication history of admitted patients age 65 and older and comprehensive understanding of medication reconciliation process. </li><li>Supports OHSU outpatient pharmacy program through activities such as prescription dispensing, patient outreach, specialty pharmacy enrollment, and refill reminders. </li><li>Provides medication assistance support to OHSU patients. Assists pharmacists in non-clinical activities, e.g. maintenance of Medication Assistance Program patient information. Receives and maintains medication assistance inventory. </li><li>Interacts with other health care team members and patients and displays a high level of customer service commitment </li><li>Triages incoming phone calls from pharmacy staff, patients, and providers </li><li>Understands billing systems (both internal and external third party) and prescription processing </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma, active State of Oregon Pharmacy Technician License AND </li><li>1 year of pharmacy work experience, or equivalent additional education; AND </li><li>Certification from the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Health career Association. Certification must be maintained. </li></ul> <p>Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):</p> <ul> <li>Must possess computer keyboarding skills. </li><li>Ability to read and understand medical-related terms. </li><li>Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical mathematics calculations. </li><li>Ability to establish priorities in workflow. </li><li>Good interpersonal communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work under supervision of diverse Pharmacists </li><li>Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Formal pharmacy technician training program </li><li>Inpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy experience. </li><li>Medical and scientific nomenclature </li></ul> <p>Additional Details</p> <p>The individual will experience competing demands on their time from clinic staff and/or patients and will need to effectively multi-task. Must be able to perform well within a team environment and work in a collaborative and cooperative manner. Must be able to deliver a consistently high level of customer service. Ability to stand/walk for 6-8 continuous hours per day. Additionally, this candidate will need to function for long periods of time using a computer terminal.
