For further information, please contact the Department of Human Capital, 330-761-3192.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>REQUIRED: Graduation from an accredited high school or GED; </li><li>REQUIRED: Possess a valid State of Ohio Driver's License with less than 6 points; </li><li>REQUIRED: Must be able to lift, move and/or carry up to 100 pounds; </li><li>REQUIRED: Must be able to operate various types of electrical and gas operated equipment; </li><li>Previous experience in grounds maintenance/landscaping operations and equipment preferred. </li></ul> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION:</p> <ul> <li>Reports to the Foreman in the department in which he/she is assigned; </li><li>Assist in the maintenance of buildings and grounds in a clean and presentable manner; </li><li>Assist with building moves (packing, transporting boxes and furniture); </li><li>Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation; </li><li>Assist in lawn mowing, landscaping, etc., at all facilities; </li><li>Install and repair all guardrails, playground equipment and chain link fences on property owned by the Board of Education; </li><li>Repair cracks and holes in asphalt with hot and cold patch; </li><li>Assist and operate the rollers and graders to prepare tracks for track season; </li><li>Stock and restock furniture, take inventory, assemble new furniture and repair broken furniture; </li><li>Deliver inter-building mail to all school buildings; </li><li>Operates various types of lawn mowers, seeding, aerating, and fertilizing equipment; </li><li>Receive, store and distribute all grounds materials, supplies and equipment; </li><li>Inventory equipment and supplies; </li><li>Responsible for the inspection, care, condition, appearance, repair and/or replacement of physical equipment, buildings, facilities and grounds; </li><li>Attend meetings and seminars as required; </li><li>Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy; </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information (e.g. personnel information); </li><li>Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents; </li><li>Preparation of athletic fields for competition; </li><li>Ability to listen effectively, actively; </li><li>Ability to problem solve; </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others; </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; </li><li>Ability to work independently; </li><li>Knowledge of the proper care and storage of chemicals; </li><li>Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels; </li><li>Knowledge of the effective and safe operation of moderately complex automotive and grounds maintenance equipment; </li><li>Perform related duties as assigned by the Grounds Foreman or designee. </li></ul> <p>If you require any special services (such as interpreter, braille or large print, or wheelchair-accessible accommodations) covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Public Law 101-336, Section 102, please call the Department of Human Resources at 330-761-2949.
