Woodbury Middle School social studies teachers are leaders in their field and specialize in meeting students' needs in alignment with state and national standards.</p> <p>Teachers work collaboratively with instructional leaders to develop engaging, rigorous lessons that meet the needs of all learners. A commitment to research-based instructional practices, including small group instruction and differentiated learning, is essential. Teachers strive to challenge students through inquiry-based learning while fostering critical thinking and collaboration across content areas.</p> <p>The candidate must demonstrate the following:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct in accordance with the Region 14 teacher job description </li><li>Plan and implement lessons aligned to the comprehensive social studies curriculum </li><li>Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student growth and success </li><li>Communicate effectively with families and school/community stakeholders in the best interest of students </li><li>Foster historical thinking through inquiry using primary and secondary sources </li><li>Engage students in meaningful discussion, analysis, and evidence-based reasoning </li><li>Pursue continuous professional growth to remain current in instructional practices </li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of employment and certification </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues on grade-level and subject-area teams </li><li>Seek and apply feedback from instructional leaders and administrators </li><li>Participate in professional learning opportunities and apply new learning to practice </li><li>Maintain accurate and timely records in PowerSchool aligned to curriculum expectations and the Vision of a Learner </li><li>Use data to inform instruction and reflect on teaching practices to improve student outcomes </li></ul> <p>SALARY:</p> <p>$130 per day for the first 10 days, $257.90 per day beyond 10 days</p> <p>WORK YEAR:</p> <p>Per contract (Last day of school currently scheduled for June 22, 2026)</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>State of Connecticut Certification Preferred</p> <ul> <li>History & Social Studies, Grades 412 (026) </li></ul> <p>Candidates of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>APPLY ONLINE:</p> <ul> <li>Letter of intent </li><li>Resume </li><li>3 letters of reference </li><li>Transcripts </li><li>Proof of Certification </li></ul> <p>The Regional School District 14 Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, marital status, national/ethnic origin, age, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or disability in its programs, activities, and employment practices as set forth in compliance with the Office of Civil Rights, Title VI, Title IX, and Section 504.
