This GA position is part-time and time-limited June 1-Sept. 19, 2025</p> <p>DISCLAIMER</p> <p>This job description reflects the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. In addition to the duties outlined here, the position includes such other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Selects and researches topics; contacts and interviews sources; maintains notes and audio recordings; writes, edits and produces multimedia reports for digital and broadcast audiences; Produces news as assigned by newsroom editorial staff. </li><li>Proactively participates in the creative cycle of story origination with reporters, producers and editorial staff. </li><li>The Reporter adheres to deadlines and, in concert with appropriate staff, makes timely and effective decisions in situations requiring prompt attention. </li><li>Executes administrative duties related to their own reporting and community engagement to support federal and grant reporting requirements, source tracking and other station goals. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>This is a 3 month, temporary, non-benefited position.</p> <p>Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.</p> <ul> <li>One year of previous professional journalism experience or demonstrated educational equivalency </li><li>Sound news judgment and understanding of journalistic best practices </li><li>A portfolio demonstrating interviewing, broadcast and digital writing, fact-checking and audio production skills </li><li>Excellent communicator, team player and problem solver with demonstrated human relations skills </li><li>Ability to proactively find and report stories on a wide range of topics and locations </li><li>Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality journalism </li><li>A passion for creative storytelling that serves Utah communities </li><li>Ability to build trust with sources in the community </li><li>Willingness to learn, grow and innovate </li><li>Familiarity with AP Style </li></ul> <p>Preferences</p> <ul> <li>Comfort with digital photography and social media </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions Summary</p> <p>Please submit the following documents to apply:</p> <ul> <li>Resume </li><li>Cover letter describing your interest in journalism, public media and KUER </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
