<p>Must have a Teaching license with NMPED and an endorsement in Art or Music</p> <p>MUSIC TEACHER</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Properly certified in all areas of assignment </li><li>Demonstrate cooperativeness and willingness to carry out assigned tasks and perform responsibilities. </li><li>Bilingual Endorsement is highly preferable </li><li>Other qualifications determined necessary by the Board </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal or Designee</p> <p>GENERAL SUPERVISION: Superintendent</p> <p>JOB GOAL: To develop in each pupil an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture; to teach techniques of vocal or instrumental music expression; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of music, to develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Teach skills in music appreciation, harmony, and explorations in music and in instrumental music (band, orchestra, instrumental ensemble) and choral music (chorus, choir, choral ensemble) to Middle and High School students. Utilize the teaching competencies and curriculum/bilingual curriculum adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. </li><li>Instruct pupils in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. </li><li>Plan a balanced music program and organize daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time. </li><li>Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. </li><li>Utilize repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils. </li><li>Control the storage and use of school-owned property; make minor adjustments and request repairs to instruments as required. </li><li>Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and musical performances. </li><li>Evaluate each pupil's musical growth and performance, assessing each individual's contribution to the performance of the group. </li><li>Plan, rehearse, and direct pupils in musical programs for the school and community. </li><li>Select and requisition books, musical instruments, and instructional aides and maintain required inventory records. </li><li>Communicate with parents bi-weekly, monthly or sooner if the need arises, on the student's progress and behavior </li><li>Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupil's solve health, attitude and learning problems. </li><li>Cooperate with the school administration in providing musical programs for school productions, graduation ceremonies and civic functions. </li><li>Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned. </li><li>Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments and revisions, inclusive of bilingual development programs and implements EPSS. </li><li>Gather data in order to develop strategies for student improvement. </li><li>Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities to include in and out of school activities. </li><li>Maintain professional competencies through in-service education provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities related to music. </li><li>Participate cooperatively with the principal or his/her designee to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines. </li><li>Administer Group Standardized Tests in accordance with district testing program. </li><li>Administer the Language Assessment Scale Testing and Scoring in both English and Spanish. </li><li>Attend board meetings at the request of the superintendent or his/her authorized designee. </li><li>Perform other assigned tasks required of the supervisor (s) </li></ul> <p>Art Teacher</p> <p>General Job Function:</p> <p>To provide Art or Music Program instruction at the elementary level. To create a learning environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide learning experiences in language arts, social studies, pre-reading, reading, arithmetic, science, art, physical education, and music to pupils, utilizing State competencies, the curriculum/bilingual curriculum adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities. </li><li>Instruct pupils in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. </li><li>Develop and utilize instructional materials suitable for verbal and visual instruction of pupils with wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturity. </li><li>Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help the pupils make a satisfactory transition to school. </li><li>Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities without interfering with a kindergarten's naturally informal atmosphere. </li><li>Evaluate academic and social growth of pupils, and keeps appropriate records.Communicate with parents bi-weekly, monthly or sooner if the need arises, through a variety of means. Hold parent conferences to discuss the individual student's progress, student behavior and interpret the school's program. </li><li>Identify pupil needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems. </li><li>Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers. </li><li>Maintain professional competencies through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities. </li><li>Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines. </li><li>Select and requisition books and instructional aides; maintain required inventory records. </li><li>Ensure a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible. </li><li>Supervise pupils in and out-of-classroom activities as assigned. </li><li>Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments and revisions, inclusive of bilingual development programs and implement EPSS. </li><li>Gather data to develop strategies for student improvement. </li><li>Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities including in and out of school activities. </li><li>Implement the Teacher's Competencies adopted by the Board of Education. </li><li>Administer Group Standardized Tests in accordance with district testing program. </li><li>Administer the Language Assessment Scale Testing and Scoring in both English and Spanish. </li><li>Attend board meetings at the request of the Superintendent or his/her authorized designee </li><li>Perform other assigned tasks required of the supervisor(s). </li></ul>
