Review of applications will begin on June 1, 2025 and continue until the position is filled.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, five-month, non-renewable non-tenure-track faculty position of Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics in the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences to begin in August 2025. The position is oriented towards effective undergraduate instruction and there is no research requirement.</p> <p>Primary Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Teach 12 semester credit hours per semester </li><li>Curriculum Development </li><li>Service commensurate with expectations of all faculty </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Master's Degree (for appointment at the rank of Visiting Instructor) or Doctorate (for appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor) in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics. Ability to engage in effective teaching.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to articulate concepts and instructions effectively to students. </li><li>Capacity to build positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues. </li><li>Skill in managing course materials, time, and administrative tasks like grading. </li><li>Familiarity with standard software for communication and potentially online learning platforms. </li><li>Ability to pay attention to detail, which is necessary for accurate grading, lab safety adherence, and following procedures. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Experience teaching introductory mathematics or mathematics education courses at the college level. Experience teaching online courses. Experience mentoring mathematics education students.
