Thompson is headquartered in Sumter, South Carolina with offices spanning the United States, primarily southeast and central United States.</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Assemble, analyze defects in, and repair boilers, boiler auxiliaries and ancillaries, pressure vessels, tanks, and vats in field, following blueprints and using hand tools and portable power tools and equipment. This will be completed in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Read specifications determine location, quantity and sizes of materials. </li><li>Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on foundation, using master straightedge, squares, transit, and measuring tape, and applying knowledge of geometry. </li><li>Bell, bead with power hammer pressure vessel tube ends to ensure leak proof joints. </li><li>Bolt pressure vessel structures and parts together. </li><li>Inspect boiler tubes, vessels and tanks for flaws or defects so they can be repaired. </li><li>Install manholes, hand holes, taps, valves, gauges and feed water connections in the drums of water tube boilers. </li><li>Install refractory brick and other heat resistant materials in fireboxes of pressure vessels. </li><li>Lay out plate, sheet steel and other metal and locate cutting lines using protractors, compasses and drawing instruments. </li><li>Repair or replace defective parts. </li><li>Clean pressure vessel equipment using wire brushes and cleaning solvents. </li><li>Maintain work area in clean and tidy manner. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the field. </li><li>Must be able to utilize basic math and read a variety of precision measuring tools and gauges. </li><li>Must be at least 18 years of age </li><li>Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively. </li><li>Must be able to work at heights up to 200 feet. </li><li>Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments </li><li>40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work </li><li>Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>We strive to provide a competitive compensation and benefits package.
