<p>Principal Technical Accountant</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>We are seeking a Principal Technical Accountant to support our accounting organization across general ledger operations, internal controls, and complex accounting matters. This role will contribute hands-on accounting expertise while partnering closely with existing accounting leadership and team members to ensure accurate, compliant, and scalable financial reporting.</p> <p>This position is well-suited for candidates who are currently in public accounting and exploring a transition to industry, as well as those who bring a mix of public accounting and industry experience. Public accounting experience is required, while prior industry experience is helpful but not required.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>General Ledger & Close Support</p> <ul> <li>Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules </li><li>Serve as a resource to the accounting team for complex or unusual transactions </li><li>Help ensure financial statements are complete, accurate, and prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP </li></ul> <p>Accounting Analysis & Judgment</p> <ul> <li>Apply U.S. GAAP to routine and non-routine transactions, exercising sound accounting judgment </li><li>Assist with research and documentation for accounting topics as needed, including preparation or review of accounting memos and policy documentation </li><li>Provide practical accounting input on new transactions, contracts, and business initiatives in partnership with accounting leadership </li></ul> <p>SOX & Internal Controls</p> <ul> <li>Support the documentation, operation, and ongoing improvement of internal controls over financial reporting </li><li>Participate in SOX walkthroughs and testing in coordination with internal and external auditors </li><li>Assist in identifying process gaps and opportunities to strengthen controls and efficiency </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Process Improvement</p> <ul> <li>Partner with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and documentation </li><li>Contribute to the development of scalable, repeatable accounting practices as the organization continues to grow </li><li>Provide informal guidance and support to other accounting team members, as appropriate </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field</p> </li><li> <p>CPA required (or actively pursuing)</p> </li><li> <p>5+ years of accounting experience with required public accounting experience at a Big 4 or large national firm</p> </li><li> <p>Candidates may be currently in public accounting, or</p> </li><li> <p>May have a combination of public accounting and industry experience</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting fundamentals</p> </li><li> <p>Experience supporting audits, internal controls, and SOX-related processes</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to clearly document accounting conclusions and communicate effectively with stakeholders</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>Prior industry experience in a GL, close, or technical accounting role </li><li>Exposure to complex accounting topics </li><li>Experience working in a growing or evolving accounting environment </li><li>Familiarity with ERP systems; exposure to Workday Financials is a plus </li></ul> <p>What Success Looks Like in This Role</p> <ul> <li>Accounting issues are addressed thoughtfully with appropriate research and documentation </li><li>Close processes and financial reporting are accurate, timely, and well-supported </li><li>Internal controls operate effectively and improve over time </li><li>The accounting team benefits from strong partnership, collaboration, and sound judgment </li></ul> <p>Compensation Range:</p> <p>$92,972-$129,231</p> <p>Compensation for this job is subject to market conditions, geographic considerations, the candidate's unique skills and experience, state and local laws, and budget.
