<p>College Laboratory Technician - Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Department, School of Arts and Sciences</p> <p>GENERAL DUTIES</p> <p>Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.</p> <ul> <li>Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories </li><li>Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials </li><li>Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards </li><li>Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities </li><li>Manages equipment and materials inventories. </li></ul> <p>Job Title Name: College Laboratory Technician</p> <p>CONTRACT TITLE</p> <p>College Laboratory Technician</p> <p>FLSA</p> <p>Non-exempt</p> <p>CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION</p> <p>A full time (12 month) College Laboratory Technician (CLT) position is available in the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) department within the School of Arts and Sciences. The CLT is a tenure-track member of the MLS faculty, and reports to the Chair of the MLS department.</p> <p>Responsibilities include technical preparation for a range of laboratory classes, including, but not limited to Clinical Biochemistry, Cell and Tissue Culture, Immunology, Hematology and Immunohematology. Overseeing laboratory safety, ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and supervising student aides are also part of the role. The job involves multitasking, working with other CLTs, and the ability to take on a leading role in the absence of other CLTs. Committee participation is a responsibility of all Hunter College faculty.</p> <p>This position will commence with the Fall 2025 semester beginning in August 2025.nSome evening hours are required once or twice weekly.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.</p> <p>OTHER QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>The educational requirement is a Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related area. </li><li>Professional experience (at least 2 years) in a medically related laboratory or biomedical research lab is strongly preferred. </li><li>Experience at the laboratory bench is required, with a clinical background at the technologist level preferred, or as a research assistant in a biomedical laboratory. </li><li>Skills in biochemistry, immunohematology, and aseptic techniques are required, and molecular methods are an asset. </li><li>Computer-based data management experience, including interface with lab equipment, is desirable. </li><li>Basic knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance based on product manuals will be helpful. </li></ul> <p>COMPENSATION</p> <p>Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, within approved range: $74,430 - $86,721.</p> <p>BENEFITS</p> <p>CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification.
