<p>Position is funded in part through federal funds.</p> <p>Position is Exempt from the State Human Resources Act - G.S. 126</p> <p>Make a real difference in the health of our community. </p> <p>Join our Population Health team and help shape a healthier future for all".</p> <p>The Population Health Unit leads North Carolina's vision for an innovative, whole-person, and well-coordinated system of care-one that addresses both medical and non-medical drivers of health while expanding access to essential services.</p> <p>The Deputy Director of Population Health is a senior strategic leader responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the systems, processes, and teams that support Medicaid Population Health programs in an evolving healthcare environment. This role provides strategic oversight of the population health portfolio across all Medicaid delivery systems, including Standard Plans, Tailored Plans, the Tribal Option, Medicaid Direct, and the Children and Families Specialty Plan. Working closely with the Population Health team, the Deputy Director evaluates program data to assess effectiveness, directs updates to existing initiatives, and guides the development of new ones.</p> <p>As a key decision-maker, the Deputy Director shapes population health strategy, sets policy direction, and determines investment priorities across Medicaid delivery systems. The role also serves as a high-level representative of NC Medicaid in negotiations with federal agencies, state partners, health plans, and community leaders to drive statewide health transformation.</p> <p>Reporting to the Chief of Population Health, this position supervises the Associate Director of Population Health, the Associate Director of Healthy Opportunities, and the broader Population Health portfolio. The individual will collaborate extensively with the DHB Executive Team, the DHHS Secretary's Office, other DHHS divisions, Medicaid health plans, national and state advocacy organizations, and representatives of Medicaid beneficiaries and providers.</p> <p>About the NC Division of Health Benefits:</p> <p>The Division of Health Benefits (DHB) within NCDHHS is committed to advancing innovative solutions that improve health, promote well-being and foster independence for all North Carolinians.
