<p>The Lab Processing Technician:</p> <ul> <li>Performs pre-analytical specimen processing including stamping in, verifying I.D., identifying tests, and evaluating specimen quality and appropriate test set up. </li><li>Performs computer order entry and inquiry functions. </li><li>Provides courteous and timely customer service to providers calling into the lab. </li><li>Performs, documents, and evaluates daily QC and follows procedure when QC is out of range. Performs routine operation and maintenance of instrumentation in the work area such as centrifuges, refrigerators, and freezers. </li><li>Maintains workplace in a neat and orderly fashion. </li><li>Continuously monitors specimen workflow. Ensures quick response for STAT and other timed tests. </li><li>Participates in departmental continuous improvement projects as necessary. </li></ul> <p>The Lab Processing Technician must have the following:</p> <ul> <li>High School / GED required, bachelor's degree preferred </li><li>Work requires the skills to read and understand instructions, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters. </li><li>Work requires the ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees.
