This role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered orthodontic services to a diverse and underserved population. The Orthodontist works collaboratively with the dental team to ensure integrated, accessible, and culturally competent care in alignment with the health center's mission.</p> <p>Provides educational, preventive, surgical, prosthetic, therapeutic and restorative services supporting total health for the control of oral disease and promotion of oral health. Oversees immediate dental clinical staff, and responsible for direct patient care consistent with professional standards and CHS policies and procedures.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Diagnose, prevent, and treat dental and facial irregularities, including malocclusions and jaw alignment issues. </li><li>Develop and implement individualized orthodontic treatment plans. </li><li>Apply and adjust braces, clear aligners, retainers, and other orthodontic appliances. </li><li>Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary. </li><li>Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Closes all patient encounters within 72 hours and before the end of the month. </li><li>Educate patients and families on treatment plans, oral hygiene, and appliance care. </li><li>Collaborate with general dentists, pediatric dentists, hygienists, and other care providers to coordinate comprehensive treatment. </li><li>Ensure compliance with FQHC regulations, clinical protocols, infection control standards, and quality assurance initiatives. </li><li>Participate in case conferences, quality improvement activities, and team meetings as appropriate. </li><li>Support the health center's mission to provide equitable, culturally competent care regardless of patients' differences or ability to pay. </li><li>Examine teeth, intra-oral and extra-oral tissues, and diagnoses patients' hard tissue and soft tissue conditions. </li><li>Orders, reviews, and documents findings of radiographic imaging. </li><li>Assists with reviews and recommending changes in dental clinic policies, procedures, and protocols as needed to achieve Community Health Clinic goals. </li><li>Assists in the provision of continuing education, on-the-job training, for staff as requested by Dental Director. </li><li>Participates in and supports Quality Assessment/ peer review and improvement activities in the organization as requested by Dental Director. </li><li>Attends appropriate meetings and conferences as required to promote clinic goals. </li><li>Assists with mentoring and training dental support staff, such as student dentists, hygienists, dental assistants. </li><li>Assists Billing Office staff in obtaining necessary information to assure accurate and timely billing and appropriate collections. </li><li>Participate in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team. </li><li>Actively participates and is accountable for duties assigned that support the CHS Mission and values. </li><li>Participates in quarterly EHR/Peer reviews as assigned by the Quality Assurance Team. </li><li>Follows all CHS policies, procedures, regulatory and legal requirements. </li><li>Completes required trainings on time. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability and determination to efficiently carry out Community Health System, Inc. mission statement. </li><li>Working knowledge of the sociocultural factor associated with the community's use of social and health care services. </li><li>Ability to supervise, motivate and direct professional staff. </li><li>Ability to understand patient attitudes and needs, develop and orient program goals and concepts accordingly, and to work effectively toward their accomplishment with all staff members. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, officials, the public, patients, other private and public health organizational representatives, health care personnel and community groups and organizations. </li><li>Ability to work under pressure and high stress, maintain personal composure, evaluate situations, and act/react appropriately, and use tact in dealing with visitors, patients, and difficult situations. </li><li>Ability to communicate orally and in writing, makes appropriate decisions on inquiries, and provides clear and concise written and oral information/ presentations to a wide variety of individuals. </li><li>Ability to interpret and conform program operations to applicable laws, rules, regulations, and funding source requirements and according to acceptable standards. </li><li>Ability to read and respond to emails in a timely fashion. </li><li>Must have moderate to high level computer and software skills. </li><li>Ability to identify and maintain confidential/HIPPA information. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school. </li><li>Completion of an accredited orthodontic residency program. </li><li>Board certification or board eligibility in Orthodontics preferred. </li></ul> <p>Licensure and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Current, unrestricted license in Wisconsin to practice Dentistry. </li><li>Maintain current DEA registration number. </li><li>Current CPR/BLS certification </li></ul> <p>Related Work Experience</p> <ul> <li>Experience working in community health, public health, or with underserved populations preferred. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
