<p>Mechanic</p> <p>Position Overview About the position: Select's Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing mechanical problems, repairing and rebuilding equipment on or off-site.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, adjusting, and alignments, and keeping records. Ensures a clean, safe work environment at all times. Identifies and maintains an inventory of high-use, common maintenance items. Functions "on-call" in order to respond to emergency callouts. Controls costs of in-house and outsourced maintenance or repairs through use of warranty and vendor evaluation. Maintains transportation fleet in a manner that ensures the safety and protection of employees, clients and general public including the environment. Must possess valid driver's license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Select's insurance guidelines. Must be able to work on both small and large engines. Work Experience</p> <p>3 to 4 years of related work experience is required.</p> <p>Physical Demands and Work Environment</p> <p>Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected. Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection Prolonged sitting, standing, walking Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to individually lift: Maximum 50 lbs</p> <p>Reports to Manager, Shop.</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program is highly preferred.</p> <p>Skills</p> <p>Ability to work as part of a team.
