<p>Class Definition</p> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To be responsible for fiscal/financial management functions within a state agency. To perform clerical duties in connection with the financial transactions at a large state department. To assist the Supervisor of Fiscal Services or be responsible to an administrative superior in a large state department or agency related to business management services; and to do related work as required.</p> <p>SUPERVISIONRECEIVED: Worksunderthegeneralsupervisionofasuperior;workisreviewedinprocessandupon completion.</p> <p>SUPERVISIONEXERCISED: As required, may supervise the work of a small group of clerical workers.</p> <p>Illustrative Examples of Work Performed</p> <p>To be responsible for fiscal/financial management functions within a state agency.</p> <p>To process DPS employee travel reimbursement vouchers.</p> <p>To ensure proper use of Purchasing policies and procedures.</p> <p>To maintain inventory of office equipment and supplies.</p> <p>To file agency A/P support documentation and maintain filing systems.</p> <p>To prepare and process electronic bank deposits.</p> <p>To process purchase requisitions and payment vouchers.</p> <p>To determine and verify balances in various agency purchase orders.</p> <p>To verify requests for requisitions, payments, purchase orders, invoices, and travel.</p> <p>To maintain filing systems specific to all requisitions, purchases orders, utility orders for audit purposes.</p> <p>To process requests for online purchases, registration fees and other requests.</p> <p>To exercise administrative direction over programs that are essentially financial in nature.</p> <p>To assist other Central Management Office personnel on special projects, as needed.</p> <p>To do related work, as required.</p> <p>Required Qualifications for Appointment</p> <p>KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A thorough working knowledge of the principles and practices of state procurement rules and regulations; utilization of a financial management system for purchases and invoice payments; a working knowledge of standard office methods and procedures; a familiarity with the uses of standard office equipment; the ability to understand and carry out both oral and written directions; to provide professional customer-oriented service and be team oriented.</p> <p>EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Education: Such as may have been gained through graduation from a senior high school, including or supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and office practice; and</p> <p>Experience: Such as may have been gained through: employment in a responsible capacity involving fiscal or business management in the private sector or with a state or governmental agency.</p> <p>Or any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.</p> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <p>Prior to appointment, selected candidate must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation conducted by the Rhode Island State Police.</p> <p>Following appointment, selected candidate must successfully complete a 130 working-day probationary period.</p> <p>For information regarding the benefits available to State of Rhode Island employees, please visit the Office of Employee Benefits' website at http://www.employeebenefits.ri.gov/.</p> <p>Also, be advised that a new provision in RI General Law 35-6-1 was enacted requiring direct deposit for all employees. Specific to new hires, the law requires that all employees hired after September 30, 2014 participate in direct deposit. Accordingly, any employee hired after this date will be required to participate in the direct deposit system.
